All human races have the same number of chromosomes (46) and banding pattern. All human races can interbreed and produce fertile offsprings, so all belong to the same species.
On comparing the amount of DNA in human diploid cells and that of gorilla chimpanzee, and great apes (2N = 48), it is observed that the DNA contents in them are similar proving common ancestry of all of them. On staining the autosomal chromosome number 3 and 6 of man and chimpanzee with a specific dye, it was found that bending pattern of chromosomes (chromosome number 3 and 6) of man and chimpanzee is quite similar.
