Non Family Planning Measures
Human Population of Class 12
Education :
Development of scientific temperament and attitude will reduce the population growth as people will understand consequences of population
expansion. Kerala with 100% literacy has lowest population growth.
Mass media, voluntary organisations, government agencies and the educated people in the society have lot more responsibilities to motivate the people.
Industrialization .In industrialized places the population growth is less.
Marriageable age
The population growth can be reduced by raising the age of marriage. This also provides more opportunity to the young people in finding better employment avenues, professional growth and higher social status. Besides the problems of over population there are also problems with thousands of unhappy couples who are unable to get child. Various biomedical applications and services are available to provide assistance.
Test tube babies
Women with normal ovulation but unable to conceive, can have test-tube baby. The ovum is taken out and fertilized in vitro; zygote or young embryo (blastula stage) raised, is implanted in uterus. In case if the lady is not able to conceive due to uterine defects a surrogate mother is hired to carry the pregnancy (embryo) but it has raised various legal, ethical and emotional problems such as the right over the child. Also useful if husband’s sterility is due to low sperm count.
Amniocentesis
Used to detect any inborn defects/deficiency or abnormalities at pre-natal stage. Amniotic fluid is the living medium for the embryo contains embryonic cells which are cultured and studied; provides information about the genetic and physiological state and also the sex of the embryo, unfortunately, the pre-natal sex determination has resulted in its misuse for the female foeticide.
