Quartz Clocks
Motion and Time of Class 7
The quartz clock is based on an electric property of the quartz crystal it is due to the electric filed. The properties of quartz is change when an electric field is applied to a quartz crystal. When placed in an electronic circuit, the interaction between the mechanical stress and the electrical field causes the crystal to vibrate and due to this it generates a constant electric signal which is used to measure time.
