There are many theories regarding evolution, but the main are :

• Theory of Inheritance of acquired characters - Lamarckism
• Theory of Natural selection - Darwinism
• Modern Synthetic theory of evolution.

Lamarckism

The first scientific theory and most perfect pre Darwinian concept of organic evolution by the French Naturalist, Jean Baptist de Lamarck (1744-1836) in his book “Philosophie Zoologique” (1809); began as botanist but switch over to zoology; believed organisms to evolve by diversification.
