UP Board 12th Grace Marks Rules 2026: The Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad (UPMSP) follows specific guidelines to ensure that students are evaluated fairly. UP Board 12th Grace Marks Rules 2026 have been provided to support the students who are close to the pass marks. The board authority decided to provide the grace marks of around 1 to 5 marks to the students.

Grace marks are extra marks awarded to a student who fails a subject by a very narrow margin. The UP Board authority provides the grace marks only to those students who meet the minimum eligibility requirements for grace marks. It means that the student should be close to the minimum passing marks criteria. The grace marks are awarded only in one or two subjects.

Grace Marks Eligibility UP Board has been decided by the authority, so that only the deserving students can get the benefit of the grace marking scheme in class 12. 

  • Marginal Failure: The student must be failing by only a small margin, not exceeding 5 marks.

  • Number of Subjects: Grace marks are usually limited to one or two subjects. 

  • Performance in Other Subjects: The performance of the student is evaluated in the other subjects. 

Passing Rules 12th

UP Board has set the rules regarding the passing criteria for the class 12 students. All the students need to follow the minimum passing marks criteria to be eligible to be promoted to higher studies. 

  • Minimum Percentage: A student must secure at least 33% marks in each subject.

  • Theory and Practical: For subjects that include both theory and practical exams, it is mandatory to score 33% in each section separately.

  • Aggregate Score: In addition to subject-wise requirements, an overall aggregate of 33% is required to be declared "Pass."

Marks Moderation

  • There is a difference in the difficulty level of different sets of question papers.

  • An error is found in a question paper (such as out-of-syllabus or incorrect questions).

  • The board wants to bring parity across different regions or evaluation centres to ensure no student is at a disadvantage due to strict checking or tough exams.

The Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad (UPMSP) assigns grades to candidates based on their performance in theory, practical, and internal evaluations conducted by schools.
