The ICSI CS Exam Guidelines are official examination instructions issued by the Institute of Company Secretaries of India for candidates appearing in Company Secretary examinations. These guidelines cover:

Q1. What are the important ICSI Examination Instructions for candidates?

Answer:
Candidates should complete their exam enrollment on time, download the admit card, carry valid identity proof, and reach the examination centre before reporting time. Students must also follow instructions given by invigilators during the examination.

Q2. Does ICSI provide special facilities to disabled candidates?

Answer:
Yes. According to ICSI Candidate Guidelines, eligible Divyangjan candidates can avail:

  • Scribe facility

  • Extra time

  • Scribe with extra time

These facilities are available to candidates having a minimum of 40% permanent disability.

Q3. How much extra time is provided in CS examinations?

Answer:
ICSI grants 20 minutes of additional time for every hour of examination. Thus, eligible candidates appearing for a three-hour paper may get a total duration of four hours.

Q4. When should candidates apply for a scribe facility?

Answer:
Candidates seeking a scribe or extra time should submit a separate application at least 45 days before the commencement of the examination.

Q65. Are candidates with temporary disabilities eligible for scribe facilities?

Answer:
No. Temporary conditions such as fractures, shoulder injuries, or temporary illnesses are generally not eligible as per ICSI Exam Rules.

Q7. Who provides the scribe for the examination? 

Answer: The Institute generally arranges the scribe through the examination centre superintendent. Candidates may also bring their own scribe subject to strict qualification checks:

  • For Executive Programme: The scribe must be an undergraduate who is NOT pursuing or completed CA, CS, CMA, or LL.B.

  • For Professional Programme: The scribe must be a graduate but NOT a postgraduate, and must NOT be pursuing or completed CA, CS, CMA, LL.B., or a master's degree in Commerce, Law, or Management.

Q8. Is any additional fee charged for availing a scribe?

Answer:
No. Candidates are not required to pay any extra fee for using the scribe facility.

Q9. Can students obtain a duplicate Result-cum-Marks Statement?

Answer:

Yes. ICSI issues duplicate Result-cum-Marks Statements on receipt of an application in the prescribed format. Please note that whether a fee is applicable depends entirely on when you submit your application after the result declaration.

Q10. How much time does ICSI take to issue a duplicate marks statement? 

Answer: Normally, duplicate Result-cum-Marks Statements are issued within ten working days after receiving the application. However, please note that post-result applications for Verification of Marks, Inspection, or Certified Copies of answer books take significantly longer, usually requiring 5 to 8 weeks to process completely. 

Q11. Does ICSI provide ranks in CS examinations?

Answer:
Yes. ICSI provides ranks separately for:

  • Executive Programme

  • Professional Programme

Q12. What are the conditions for becoming a rank holder?

Answer:
Candidates must:

  • Pass all papers in one attempt.

  • Not claim exemptions.

  • Secure merit position according to ICSI rules.

Q13. Does ICSI provide financial assistance to students?

Answer:
Yes. Under the Merit-cum-Means Assistance Scheme, economically weaker and meritorious students can receive financial support and fee concessions.

Q14. Does ICSI offer scholarships to meritorious students?

Answer:
Yes. ICSI awards Merit Scholarships to deserving students based on their performance in the Executive Programme examination.

Q15. Can candidates apply for verification of marks?

Answer:
Yes. Candidates who are dissatisfied with their marks can apply for verification after the declaration of results within the prescribed period.

Q16. Is revaluation of answer books allowed?

Answer:
No. Revaluation of answer books is not permitted under Company Secretaries Regulations.

Q17. Can candidates inspect their answer books?

Answer:
Yes. Candidates may apply for inspection of answer books and visit the ICSI Noida office on the scheduled date communicated by the Institute.

Q18. Can students obtain certified copies of answer books? 

Answer: Yes. ICSI provides scanned certified copies through secure online access.

IMPORTANT WARNING FOR CANDIDATES: Avoid Misconduct Penalties. The certified copies or scanned answer sheets provided by ICSI are for your exclusive self-inspection and personal reference only. Under no circumstances should you share, upload, or post your scanned answer books on social media, YouTube, public domains, or with third parties. Making public comments on the evaluation is also strictly prohibited. Violating this instruction is treated as official professional misconduct under the CS Regulations, 1982, and makes you liable for strict penal/disciplinary actions by the Institute.

Q19. What are the fees for verification and answer book services?

Answer:

  • Verification of Marks – ₹250 per subject

  • Inspection of Answer Books – ₹450 per subject

  • Certified Copies of Answer Books – ₹500 per subject

Q20. Can the fees paid for verification or certified copies be refunded? 

Answer: No. Fees once paid are not refundable under any circumstances.

Strict Deadlines for Post-Result Services Candidates must note that the online application windows on the ICSI SMASH portal open immediately after results are announced but have strict cutoffs:

  • Verification of Marks: Must be applied for within 21 days from the date of result declaration.

  • Inspection or Certified Copies: Must be applied for within 30 days from the date of result declaration. These deadlines are absolute, and no applications are accepted after the windows close.

Q21. What should candidates do if they do not receive any update regarding their application?

Answer:
Candidates may contact the Directorate of Examinations through the official email ID provided by ICSI and mention their application details.
