Ayan Ghora secured AIR 28 and JRF in CSIR NET June 2026 Chemical Sciences with 145 marks. He had recently completed his MSc from IIT Bombay and was also managing an internship when he appeared for the exam.
Ayan had already secured AIR 14 in IIT JAM, which gave him a strong foundation for CSIR NET. He used PW recorded lectures, previous-year questions, DPPs, and test series to cover the additional topics and practise for the exam. His preparation focused on regular practice and managing all three Chemistry subjects together.
Ayan was completing an internship in Mumbai when the CSIR NET exam was conducted. Initially, he was not planning to appear for the exam, but his project guide encouraged him to take it.
He shared:
โJab ye exam hua tha tab main internship kar raha tha Mumbai mein hi, to internship ka pressure tha isliye maine socha tha ki exam nahi doon.โ
Ayan had limited time for preparation, so he used the leave he received before the exam to revise and practise. He also had plans of pursuing a PhD abroad, which made the JRF qualification useful for his future plans.
Ayan joined PW's June 2025โ26 batch and relied mainly on recorded lectures because his internship and academic schedule did not allow him to attend live classes.
He explained:
โMera lab tha to maine recorded lecture hi dekha tha. Live lecture attend karne ka wo nahi hua mera.โ
During his leave, he also watched PW marathon lectures to revise different topics and clear his doubts.
โ10-12 din ke liye chhutti mila tab PW se jo marathon video, lecture wo daalte the, to wo dekhta tha. To kuch doubts the, wo bhi clear kar liya.โ
This approach allowed him to use his limited preparation time for targeted revision instead of following a full-time study routine.
Ayan had already secured AIR 14 in IIT JAM, which helped him with a large part of the CSIR NET syllabus. Instead of starting all three subjects from the beginning, he revised the topics he had already studied and covered the additional CSIR NET content.
He said:
โJAM se haan bahut help mili. Thoda bahut extra jo topic tha wo just cover karna tha. Baaki jo purana topic wo IIT JAM ka, wo just revision karna tha aur question practice karna tha.โ
This foundation helped him focus his limited preparation time on revision, question-solving, and the topics that were specific to CSIR NET.
Ayan did not prepare Physical, Organic, and Inorganic Chemistry separately for long periods. Instead, he created a weekly schedule and studied all three subjects together.
He explained:
โPehle main schedule kiya ki matlab ek hafte kitna topic, kis-kis ka topic, wo Physical, Inorganic, Organic teeno hi rehta tha.โ
According to Ayan, covering all three subjects was important because the difficulty of individual sections can vary in the exam. This approach helped him avoid depending too heavily on one particular subject.
Ayan gave considerable importance to previous-year questions. By solving PYQs, he identified the topics that carried more weight and understood the types of questions asked in the exam.
He said:
โWo dekh ke pata laga ki kis type ka question, matlab ki kaun sa kaun sa topic ka weightage zyada hai, kis-kis type ka question poochta hai.โ
He also used DPPs and the test series available through his batch for regular practice. When he faced doubts in a particular topic, he went back to the recorded lecture for that topic.
Ayan did not prepare separate short notes because of the limited time available. Instead, he revised the notes prepared during his IIT JAM preparation and the notes provided alongside lectures.
Ayan attempted Part C first, followed by Part A, while Part B received less attention because he spent more time on Part C.
He said:
โMain C pehle aur phir se Part B... Part C mein thoda zyada time kha chuka tha. To Part B ka utna question main kar nahi paya.โ
He also relied on his stronger areas during the paper. Ayan found Organic and Inorganic Chemistry more comfortable, so he attempted those questions first and skipped questions that seemed difficult before moving to the Physical Chemistry section.
His key approach was not to spend too much time on a single question.
โEk question mein zyada time nahi lagana hai kyunki bahut saare question hai.โ
This helped him move through the paper instead of losing time on questions that were taking longer than expected.
Ayan scored 145 marks and secured AIR 28 with JRF in CSIR NET June 2026 Chemical Sciences. It was his first attempt, and he achieved the result while completing his MSc and managing an internship.
He had not expected such a high rank before the result.
โItna expect nahi kiya tha.โ
Ayan's result came from using the preparation he already had from IIT JAM, covering the additional CSIR NET topics, and focusing his limited time on practice and revision.
Ayan advised aspirants to maintain regular contact with their preparation instead of taking long breaks. He recommended practising a small number of questions every day.
He said:
โEveryday touch mein rehna chahiye. Kisi na kisi topic everyday practice karna chahiye.โ
For students starting early, he also recommended using standard reference books selectively rather than trying to finish entire books.
โEk-ek topic selected topic vagairah wo sab complete karna hai aur ek hafte ka ek schedule banana hai achhe se.โ
Ayan also stressed the importance of studying all three Chemistry subjects together and maintaining a fixed schedule.
โTeenon ko ek saath hi leke chalna hai.โ
His journey shows how a focused strategy can help aspirants prepare for CSIR NET even with academic and internship commitments.
