- Master's Degree: A good academic record with a Master's degree in the concerned/relevant/allied subject from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university, with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point-scale wherever the grading system is followed).
- Knowledge of Hindi/Sanskrit : Candidates must have knowledge of Hindi/Sanskrit up to Matric standard or in Higher Education.
- NET/SLET/SET/Ph.D. Requirement: Candidates must have qualified NET conducted by UGC or CSIR or a similar test accredited by UGC.
- Ph.D. Exemption: Candidates who have been awarded a Ph.D. degree in accordance with the UGC (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of M.Phil/Ph.D. Degree) Regulation, 2009 or 2016 and amendments are exempted from NET/SLET/SET.
- Ph.D. from Foreign Universities: Candidates with a Ph.D. from a foreign university/institution ranked among the top 500 in World University Rankings by QS, THE, or ARWU (Shanghai) are also exempted from NET/SLET/SET.
Age Limit
- Minimum Age : 21 years
- Maximum Age : 42 years as of 15 days before the last date of submission of the application (i.e., 15.07.2024).
- Age Relaxation : A one-time relaxation of 5 years beyond the upper age limit is granted to candidates of all categories, provided the upper age limit does not exceed 52 years for those already entitled to age relaxation in other categories.
