Venue: NESAC, Umiam, Ri Bhoi District, Meghalaya (approximately 85 kms from Guwahati Railway Station and 18 kms from Shillong).

Candidates must meet specific academic qualifications and, for JRF positions, clear mandatory qualifying tests. Ensuring all criteria are satisfied is essential for consideration during the interview process.
Minimum Academic Qualifications:
M.E./M.Tech Degree: A minimum of 60% aggregate marks (average of all semesters) or a CGPA/CPI grading of 6.5 on a 10-point scale.
B.E./B.Tech/M.Sc. Degree: A minimum of 65% aggregate marks (average of all semesters) or a CGPA/CPI grading of 6.84 on a 10-point scale.
Mandatory Qualifying Tests for JRF Positions: Applicants for Junior Research Fellow roles (JRF01 to JRF07) must have qualified in one of the following tests in their relevant discipline:
CSIR-UGC National Eligibility Test (including NET-Lectureship)
Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
Joint Admission Test for Master's (JAM)

General Eligibility Notes:
Rounding off of marks or CGPA is not allowed.
All degrees should be recognized by AICTE/UGC or other authorized government bodies.
Experience must be acquired after obtaining the essential qualification.
Candidates with foreign degrees must provide authorized translations and an equivalency certificate from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
Specific age limits apply to both Research Scientist and Junior Research Fellow positions as of the interview date. Age relaxation is provided for candidates belonging to certain categories.
Research Scientist (M.Sc based): Maximum 28 years.
Research Scientist (M.Tech-based): Maximum 30 years.
Junior Research Fellow: Maximum 28 years.

Ex-Servicemen and Persons with Disabilities: As per Government of India orders, valid documentary proof is required.
The positions at NESAC are purely temporary and project-based, without any provision for regularization into permanent employment. The engagement period varies depending on the role.
Research Scientist: Temporary for one year, extendable up to a maximum of three years in total or co-terminus with the project.
Junior Research Fellow: Temporary and co-terminus with the project. Initially for one year, extendable based on work assessment. The maximum engagement period is five years or the project duration. The temporary nature of these NESAC JRF 2026 positions implies no provision for regular employment.
Selected candidates will receive monthly emoluments and other specified benefits. These provisions are temporary and differ from those offered to regular NESAC employees.
Research Scientist: Monthly emolument of ₹56,100/-. Additionally, applicable DA, HRA, and medical benefits for self will be provided as per rules.
Junior Research Fellow: Monthly fellowship of ₹37,000/-. HRA at applicable rates and medical benefits for self will also be provided as per extant rules.
Leave and Other Benefits:
Junior Research Fellows are eligible only for Casual Leave.
Research Scientists are eligible for leave as per Institution rules.
Maternity leave, as per Government of India instructions, is available for all eligible female RSs/JRFs.
Selected candidates will not receive benefits or concessions admissible to regular employees.

Candidates applying for more than one post must submit separate biodata forms for each position at the time of the interview.
Only candidates possessing the required qualifications as of the interview date should appear. Students awaiting final results are not eligible.
Selected candidates will be primarily posted at NESAC, Umiam, Meghalaya, and Cherrapunjee, Meghalaya, but may be deputed anywhere in India.
Selected JRFs are encouraged to register for PhD programs from recognized universities, but must manage their research time outside official duties. No leave is admissible for Ph.D. work.
Ensure all eligibility criteria are met as per the advertisement.
Requests for changes to the interview date or venue will not be entertained.
Candidates may need to stay beyond office hours or for an additional day for interviews, at their own expense.
A government-issued identity card (e.g., AADHAR/Passport) is required for identity verification before the interview.
