  • Subject-Specific Exemption: NET, SLET, or SET is not required for Masters Degree programs in disciplines where these accredited tests are not conducted.

Lecturer

  • M.Sc. in Physics, Chemistry, Maths, or English with 60% marks.

  • Relaxation: A 5% relaxation is provided for SC and ST candidates.

  • Alternatively, a Post Graduate Degree with 50% marks is accepted.

  • Relaxation: A 5% relaxation is provided for SC and ST candidates for this criterion as well.

Post Graduate Teacher (PGT) - Education Department

  • Post Graduate Degree with 50% marks.

  • Relaxation: A 5% relaxation is provided for SC and ST candidates.

Graduate Teacher (GT) - School Education Department

  • Graduate or Post Graduate Degree with 50% marks.

  • Relaxation: A 5% relaxation is provided for SC and ST candidates.

 NPSC 2026 Assistant Professor Age Limit and Relaxations

General Age Limit: Candidates must be between 21 years and 32 years old as of First of January 2026.

  • Upper Age Limit Relaxations:

  • SC and ST Candidates: Five years relaxation.

  • Government Employees: Relaxation equal to the number of years in service, up to a maximum of five years.

  • PwBDs (Persons with Benchmark Disabilities): Relaxation benefit of 10 years.

  • Assistant Professors (PhD Holders): An additional five years relaxation in the upper age limit for candidates with a PhD Degree applying for Assistant Professor positions.
