CUET 2027 Major Changes: The National Testing Agency (NTA) is looking at some changes in the CUET UG exam pattern 2027. The proposed changes aim to make the exam shorter and easier to manage. The draft plan may bring all the selected subject exams for a student to one day. It may also reduce the exam time and the number of questions.
NTA has proposed that around 35 to 40 questions to be asked as per the CUET new exam pattern. Candidates may get the time to solve around 40 to 45 minutes.
The new draft is under process and final decision will be provided on 20th October 2026. Students should continue preparing as per the current NCERT-based syllabus until NTA officially confirms the new changes.
Recent reports suggest that NTA is considering changes to the CUET UG 2027 exam pattern. However, these changes are not final yet.
Current Status: The changes are still in the draft stage. They are only proposals at present.
Final Decision: NTA is expected to discuss these changes in its official meeting on 20th October. The final decision will be announced after the meeting.
One of the main proposed changes is to conduct the CUET UG exam 2027 for a student on a single day.
Current Format: Students taking different subjects may have their exams on different days. In some cases, exams can be held across three days.
Proposed Format: All selected subject papers of a student may be held on the same day.
Similar Exams: This plan would make CUET more similar to other national entrance exams such as JEE and NEET, which follow a more compact exam schedule.
The proposed changes may reduce both the exam time and the number of questions in each subject paper.
Current: 60 minutes for each subject paper.
Proposed: 40 to 45 minutes for each subject paper.
This means the exam time may be reduced by about 15 to 20 minutes for each paper.
Current: 50 questions in each subject paper.
Proposed: 35 to 40 questions in each subject paper.
The draft also proposes reducing the maximum number of subjects in CUET 2026 a student can choose.
Current Limit: Students can choose up to five subjects.
Proposed Limit: Students may be allowed to choose a maximum of four subjects.
The total exam time may also become shorter.
With five subjects and 60 minutes for each paper, the total time is about 5 hours.
With four subjects and 40 to 45 minutes for each paper, the total time may be around 200 minutes, or about 3 hours and 20 minutes.
This change may help NTA conduct the exams on a single day.
