 CDS 1 2026 Nationality

A candidate must be either:

  • A Citizen of India.

  • A Subject of Nepal or Bhutan. (Gorkhas from Nepal are exempt from producing an eligibility certificate).

  • A Tibetan refugee who came to India before January 1, 1962, with the intention of permanently settling.

  • A Person of Indian Origin (PIO) who has migrated from specific countries (like Pakistan, Sri Lanka, or East African countries) with the intention of permanently settling in India.

  • Note: Candidates from categories 2, 3, and 4 must possess a certificate of eligibility issued by the Government of India.
