Exercise KAZIND 2023, Indian Army and Indian Air Force

Exercise KAZIND 2023: A contingent of 120 personnel from the Indian Army and Indian Air Force set out to participate in the 7th edition of the Joint Military Exercise ‘KAZIND-2023’ in Otar, Kazakhstan, running from October 30th to November 11th, 2023. This collaborative exercise aims to enhance cooperation and combat readiness between the two nations.

What is Exercise KAZIND-2023?

'Exercise KAZIND 2023' is a joint military exercise conducted between the armed forces of India and Kazakhstan. The exercise involves personnel from both the Indian Army and Indian Air Force, as well as members of the Kazakhstan Army and Air Force. It aims to strengthen mutual cooperation, enhance combat readiness, and promote interoperability between the participating armed forces. The exercise spans over a specified period, involving various tactical and strategic military operations, including counter-terrorism drills, aiming to strengthen the defense capabilities and collaboration between the two nations.

In the course of 'Exercise KAZIND-2023,' both parties partake in Counter-Terrorism operations under a sub-conventional environment authorized by the United Nations. This exercise consists of collaborative drills in different tactical strategies, such as Raids, Search and Destroy Operations, Small Team Insertion and Extraction Operations, and Counter Unmanned Aerial System Operations.

The exercise has evolved significantly since its inception as ‘Exercise PRABAL DOSTYK’ in 2016. Over the years, it has grown from a company-level exercise to 'Exercise KAZIND,' and finally, it has been upgraded into a Bi-service Exercise by integrating the Air Force component, indicating the deepened cooperation between the two nations.

Contingents of Indian Army and Kazakhstan Army are participating in Exercise Kazind2023

• Indian Army Contingent: Led by a battalion from the DOGRA Regiment, comprises 90 personnel. Their participation emphasizes India's commitment to enhancing mutual ties and showcasing its defense prowess.
• Kazakhstan Contingent: Predominantly consists of personnel from the Regional Command South of the Kazakh Ground Forces, symbolizing Kazakhstan's dedication to fostering international military relations and promoting collaborative exercises.
