Indian Army Agniveer Eligibility Criteria 2026

Prospective candidates must meet specific eligibility conditions regarding nationality, age, and educational qualifications to apply for the Agniveer positions. Ensuring compliance with these criteria is essential before proceeding with the Agniveer Apply Online 2026 process.

  • The age limit for Agniveer General Duty (Women Military Police) is 17 ½ to 22 years. Candidates must have been born between July 01, 2005, and July 01, 2009 (both days inclusive) to be eligible.

  • Age relaxation of up to 30 years is provided for widows of Defence personnel.

  • Educational qualificatuon for Agniveer General Duty (Women Military Police)Class 10th /Matric pass with 45% marks in aggregate of five basic subjects and min 33% marks in each of those five subjects. For boards following grading system, grades commensurate to percentages, as Above, will be considered. Indian Gorkhas – Class 10th simple pass.

  • Women who are widowed, divorced or legally separated are also eligible provided they do not have any children subject to fulfilling all other eligibility criteria. 

  • Widows of Defence Personnel who have died in harness will be eligible to apply for enrolment as Women Military Police. Such widows even with children will be, however, eligible only if they have not remarried. 

  • Candidates who have appeared in class 10th Board Exam and are awaiting declaration of results are also eligible to apply provided they fulfill all other Qualification Required. Such candidates, however, shall only be selected when they produce the original marksheet during the Phase II of recruitment process.

The Agniveer Selection Process 2026 involves two main phases: an online entrance exam and a recruitment rally. Candidates must successfully clear each stage to progress.

  1. Phase-I: Online Common Entrance Exam (CEE)

  • Conducted at computer-based test centers.

  • Candidates must report with a color printout of the Admit Card and Aadhaar Card.

  • The exam will be objective Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) in 13 languages.

  • Duration: 50 questions in one hour or 100 questions in two hours, depending on the category.

  • Marks will be normalized to account for difficulty variations.

  1. Phase-II: Recruitment Rally

  • Shortlisted candidates from Phase-I receive a second Admit Card.

  • Required documents include education certificates, domicile, caste, character certificates, and an affidavit.

Indian Army Agniveer Salary And Job Profile 2026

Agniveers will be engaged for a period of four years under the Indian Army Act 1950, holding a distinct rank. They are liable to be assigned any duty as per organizational requirements. At the end of four years, up to 25% of each batch may be enrolled in the regular cadre based on performance and organizational needs. The Agniveer Salary 2026 package includes a fixed yearly increment along with applicable allowances like Risk and Hardship, Dress, and Travel. A 'Seva Nidhi' package will be provided upon completion of engagement.
