Candidates must satisfy the nationality, age, and educational requirements prescribed by the Indian Navy.
Applications are invited from unmarried male and female candidates who fulfill the nationality conditions laid down by the Government of India.
The age criteria vary according to the branch. In general, candidates should be born between 2 July 2002 and 1 January/July 2008, depending on the entry.

Candidates should possess or be pursuing the final year of a relevant degree from a recognized university. Final-year candidates must submit proof of passing before joining the academy.
Executive Branch, Pilot, Observer, ATC: BE/B.Tech with minimum 60% marks.
Logistics: BE/B.Tech, MBA, MCA, M.Sc (IT), B.Sc/B.Com with PG Diploma in relevant disciplines.
NAIC: BE/B.Tech in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, Aeronautical, etc., with 60% marks.
Education Branch: M.Sc, MA, ME/M.Tech, or BE/B.Tech in specified subjects.
Engineering Branch: BE/B.Tech in Mechanical, Marine, Aerospace, Production, Metallurgy, Mechatronics, etc.
Electrical Branch: BE/B.Tech in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, Telecommunication, Power Engineering, etc.
Naval Constructor: BE/B.Tech in Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace, Marine, Naval Architecture, Ship Technology, and allied disciplines.
