The Common Entrance Examination for Design (CEED) is conducted by IIT Bombay for admission to postgraduate Design programmes. A valid CEED score can be used to apply to MDes and PhD programmes at participating institutes, including several IITs, IISc Bangalore, and IIITDM institutions.
However, qualifying CEED does not guarantee admission. Candidates must separately apply to the institute and meet its admission requirements, which may include additional tests or interviews.

The term CEED score accepting colleges generally refers to institutes that use CEED scores as part of their admission process for eligible Design programmes. For CEED 2026, the official brochure identifies the institutes listed above.
However, students should not assume that a CEED score alone is enough for admission. After qualifying, candidates need to apply separately to the institute or programme they are interested in. The concerned institute decides its own admission process and requirements.
No. Clearing CEED does not automatically secure admission to an MDes or PhD programme.
After qualifying for CEED, candidates must:
Check the admission notification of the institute they want to join.
Apply separately for the programme.
Meet the institute's eligibility requirements.
Appear for any additional test or interview, if required.
Complete the institute's admission process.
The UCEED-CEED Office, IIT Bombay does not decide the postgraduate admission criteria, scholarship, or financial assistance offered by individual institutes. Candidates should contact the respective institute for programme-specific information.
Before applying, candidates should keep these points in mind:
CEED is an entrance examination for postgraduate Design programmes.
A CEED qualification makes candidates eligible to apply to participating programmes; it does not guarantee admission.
MDes specialisations differ from one institute to another.
Some institutes may conduct additional tests and/or interviews.
Candidates must follow the individual institute's admission schedule and application process.
Details regarding scholarships and financial assistance should be checked with the respective institute.
The CEED participating institutes include some of India's leading institutions for postgraduate Design education, such as IISc Bangalore, IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad, IIT Jodhpur, IIT Kanpur and IIT Roorkee, along with IIITDM Jabalpur and IIITDM Kancheepuram.
If you are planning to pursue an MDes or PhD in Design, checking the programme, specialisation, eligibility criteria and admission process of each CEED college accepting scores is important before applying. The official CEED 2026 brochure should be used for the latest participating-institute information.
