NIFT Spot Round Seat Allotment 2026: The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) conducts the NIFT Spot Round Seat Allotment 2026 after completing the three regular rounds of centralised e-counselling. This final round fills remaining vacant seats across Bachelor of Design (B.Des), Bachelor of Fashion Technology (B.F.Tech), Master of Design (M.Des), Master of Fashion Management (M.F.M), Master of Fashion Technology (M.F.Tech), and NIFT Lateral Entry Admission (NLEA) programs.

Candidates who possess a valid Common Merit Rank (CMR) from the NIFT Entrance Exam 2026 can participate in the spot counselling round.

How to Register for NIFT Spot Round Counselling 2026

The registration process is completely online and simple, as long as you complete each step carefully before the deadline.

  • Visit the official portal at nift.admissions.nic.in.

  • Log in using your NIFT 2026 CMR credentials.

  • Pay the spot round registration fee as mentioned in the official information bulletin.

  • Select your preferred NIFT campuses and programs from the vacant seat list. Check the vacancy document before choosing.

  • Lock your choices before 23 July at midnight. Unlocked choices will not be considered

NIFT Spot Round Eligibility Criteria

To participate in the NIFT Spot Round Seat Allotment 2026, candidates must satisfy the official criteria laid down in Notification No. 23:

Eligible Candidates

  1. Valid Rank Holders: Candidates who hold a valid Common Merit Rank (CMR) in the NIFT Entrance Examination 2026.

  2. Unallotted Applicants: Candidates who registered in previous rounds but did not receive any seat allocation.

  3. Absentees & Non-Registered Candidates: Candidates who missed registration or choice filling during regular counselling rounds.

  4. Withdrawn Candidates: Candidates who secured a seat in earlier rounds, paid the academic fee, and later submitted a formal withdrawal request.

  5. Upgradation Seekers: Candidates who accepted a seat in earlier rounds by paying the academic fee and did not withdraw. They can participate to upgrade to a higher preference choice.

Ineligible Candidates

Candidates who were declared ineligible during document verification in regular rounds due to age restrictions, cut-off marks, or incomplete academic records.

NIFT Spot Round Seat Conversion and Category Merging Rules

To maximise seat utilisation, NIFT applies specific seat conversion rules during the spot round:

  • OBC (NCL) and EWS Seats: Unfilled seats reserved under OBC-NCL and EWS categories convert to Open (General) category seats.

  • Domicile Seats: Unfilled State Domicile Open and Domicile OBC-NCL seats convert to Open category seats. Unfilled Domicile SC and Domicile ST seats merge with general SC and ST category pools.

  • PwD Seats: Vacant PwD seats merge into their respective parent categories (Open, SC, ST, or OBC-NCL).

How to Check NIFT Spot Round Seat Allotment 2026

Candidates can check their seat allotment result by following these steps:

  1. Visit the official NIFT admissions portal at nift.admissions.nic.in.

  2. Click on the link titled "SPOT Round Seat Allotment Result 2026".

  3. Log in using your Application Number and Password.

  4. View your allotment status and download the provisional allotment letter.

  5. Proceed to the online payment gateway to pay the required seat acceptance fee before the deadline.

Candidates who receive a seat allotment must report physically to their designated NIFT campus on July 29, 2026, carrying original copies along with self-attested photocopies of the following documents:

  • NIFT Entrance Examination 2026 Admit Card and Scorecard

  • Class 10th Marks Card & Passing Certificate (Proof of Date of Birth)

  • Class 12th Marks Card & Passing Certificate (for UG courses)
