
The CA Foundation exam is the gateway to the CA course conducted by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI). The CA Foundation stage aims to teach basic knowledge of the CA program to Class 12 pass-out and graduate students.
This year, the CA Foundation course curriculum has been reorganized by ICAI to give students a more thorough and efficient learning experience. The CA Foundation syllabus and exam pattern under the new scheme will be effective from June 2024.
CA Foundation 2023 Overview

CA Foundation 2023 Notification
ICAI released the CA Foundation 2023 notification on its official website. The CA Foundation exam notification declares the last date for registration, before which all candidates must complete the respective CA Foundation exam registration process.
Candidates willing to apply for the CA foundation exam must first register for that session’s CA foundation exam. The last date of registration for the CA Foundation, December 2023, was declared as July 1. 2023.

The CA Foundation exam 2023 is conducted twice a year. The last session was conducted in June 2023, and the next session of the CA foundation exam will be held in December 2023.

CA Foundation 2023 Registration Process
Candidates applying for the CA foundation exam must complete the registration otherwise, they will not be allowed to apply for the corresponding CA foundation exam 2023.
The procedures for CA final registration 2023 and the online application process are explained below.
Step 1: The first step for the online registration process is to check out the official website of ICAI
Step 2: On the home page, select the option for new users to lead you to the next process.
Step 3: You need to provide your details and registered email id and mobile number on which you want to receive the confirmation.
Step 4: After submission, you will receive a registration ID and password on your given email and phone number, which will be unique for a user.
Step 5: You can again visit the ICAI website and log in with the user ID and password received in the above step.

CA Foundation 2023 Eligibility Criteria
Candidates willing to apply for the CA Foundation December 2023 exam must be aware of the CA Foundation eligibility 2023 to avoid any confusion or rejection at the time of CA Foundation registration. The primary eligibility is the CA final registration 2023, which makes the candidate eligible to access, fill, and submit the online exam form through the ICAI website for the CA foundation exam 2023.
CA Foundation Exam Educational Qualification Criteria
- Candidates who have cleared the class 10 examination or an equivalent examination from any board under the state or central government can apply for the CA foundation exam. However, the admission of these candidates will be regularized only after clearing the Class 12 exams
- Candidates appearing in Class 12 or who have already passed the Class 12 exams can register for the CA Foundation exam.
- Candidates must secure at least 50% marks in the class 12 board exam to meet the eligibility criteria for applying for the CA foundation exam.

CA Foundation 2023 Qualifying Marks
CA Foundation qualifying marks are the minimum qualifying mark for passing the CA Foundation exam as the ICAI decides. The minimum qualifying percentage is 40% marks for each paper and 50% marks overall. Candidates must take note of the expected CA foundation cutoff as given in the below table.
