Connecting the whole upper arm with the thoracic cage is achieved by four big thoracoappendicular muscles also known as Pectoral muscles. Pectoral region consist of various structures that include muscles, blood vessels and nerves which enable the upper limb to do various skillful task.
The Breast
Most superficially we have the breast tissue which is vestigial in men and well developed in females. It is composed of fatty tissue and glandular tissue which produces milk for the infant.Stabling shoulder joint

So big fleshy pectoral muscles which are very developed in regular gym goers are very essential. Most popular among them is pectoralis major. This ginormous fan shaped muscle helps in various movements of shoulder joint. The serratus anterior is a thin muscular sheet like muscle help to bring the scapula forward on the thoracic allowing you to “throw a punch” in a boxing match. The subclavius is a small triangular shaped muscle which inserts on the clavicle bone of your thorax . By depressing the shoulder and elevating the rib they help protect the brachial plexus( simply nerves of upper limb) running between clavicle and rib from injury.
