- You must possess a Master's degree or an equivalent qualification in Urdu language or literature from a university recognized by the UGC.
- Candidates may be able to apply if they have completed their Master's degree final exams. Make sure you have met the required minimum % by the time the results are posted if you want to take the exam the year you receive your Master's degree.
- Regardless of the date of the result announcement, candidates who have finished their PhD by September 19, 1991, are eligible for a 5% aggregate mark relaxation, or a drop from 55% to 50%, to appear in the NET.
- Candidates who passed the UGC-accredited State Eligibility Test before December 1, 2002, are not required to take the NET and can apply for Assistant Professor positions in India, but only at universities or colleges in the state from which they passed the SET.
Minimum Marks
- To be considered for Assistant Professor or JRF positions in the UGC NET Urdu Exam 2024, candidates must receive a minimum of 50% aggregate qualifying marks in the Reserved Categories (OBC-NCL, SC, ST, PWD, and Transgender) and at least 55% aggregate qualifying marks in both papers combined for the General Category.
- Make sure you can reach the minimal percentage needed when the test results are released if you take it the year you receive your master's degree.
Age Limit
- The UGC NET certification has no upper age limit for Assistant Professor posts, therefore anyone can take the test and be considered for these teaching roles.
- Junior Research Fellowships (JRFs) are available from the UGC NET to qualified candidates. JRFs provide funding for research and have an age restriction of 30 years as of the exam month's beginning.
