ISRO Scientist Eligibility Criteria: Educational Qualification & Age Limit

Candidates must fulfill the minimum benchmark qualifications prior to the closing date of applications (16 September 2026):

1. Educational Qualification

  • First Class B.E. / B.Tech or equivalent degree in Electronics & Communication, Mechanical, or Computer Science Engineering.

  • Minimum Aggregate Marks: At least 65% aggregate marks across all semesters OR a CGPA of 6.84 out of 10.

2. Age Limit (as on 16 September 2026)

  • Maximum Age: 28 Years.

  • Age Relaxation: Applicable for PwBD candidates, ex-servicemen, and serving Central Government civilian employees as per Government of India guidelines.

ISRO Scientist Exam Pattern & Selection Process

The ISRO Scientist Selection Through CBT 2026 selection procedure comprises a two-tier evaluation framework:

Stage 1: Computer-Based Test (CBT) / Written Exam

The CBT is conducted over 120 minutes for a total of 100 marks, structured into two distinct sections:

  • Part A (Discipline Specific): 80 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) for 80 marks in 90 minutes. Includes negative marking (-1/3 mark per wrong answer).

  • Part B (Aptitude / Ability Test): 20 MCQs for 20 marks in 30 minutes testing Numerical, Logical, Abstract, and Deductive Reasoning. No negative marking.

Stage 2: Personal Interview

  • Candidates are shortlisted for interview in a 1:5 ratio based on their performance in the CBT.

  • The interview evaluates technical depth, presentation/communication skills, comprehension, general awareness, and academic credentials out of 100 marks.

Mandatory Qualifying Criteria

To qualify for final merit compilation, candidates must clear both components independently:

  • CBT / Written Test: Minimum 50% in Part A (40/80 marks) AND 40% in Part B (8/20 marks).

  • Interview: Minimum 50 out of 100 marks.

  • Final Score Weightage: 50% weightage given to the CBT score + 50% weightage given to the Personal Interview score.

ISRO Scientist Pay Scale & Career Growth Benefits

Selected candidates receive entry into Level 10 of the 7th CPC Pay Matrix with an initial basic pay of ₹56,100/- per month. Additional allowances include:

  • Dearness Allowance (DA)

  • House Rent Allowance (HRA)

  • Transport Allowance (TA)

  • Contributory Health Service Scheme (CHSS) medical benefits

  • National Pension System (NPS) coverage and subsidized canteen facilities.

  1. Visit the official ISRO portal at isro.gov.in and click on the Careers section.

  2. Select Advt. No. ISRO:ICRB:03(EMC):2026 and register using your active email ID and mobile number.

  3. Fill in your personal, educational, and branch details carefully.

  4. Upload your recent photograph (100–200 KB) and signature (80–150 KB).

  5. Pay the initial processing fee of ₹750/- via the Bharatkosh gateway (UR/OBC/EWS candidates are charged a net application fee of ₹250 after a ₹500 partial refund upon appearing for the CBT; SC/ST/PwBD/Female candidates receive a full ₹750 refund after attending the CBT).

  6. Submit the form on or before 16 September 2026 and save a copy for future reference.
