Technical Assistant: Requires a First Class Diploma (minimum 3 years duration) in the relevant Engineering discipline from a recognised University/Institution.

Selection for the various the posts follows generally two stages:
Written Exam: The applicants are initially shortlisted on the basis of application information and are asked to attend a written test. Written test is compulsory for all positions.
Skill Test/Interview: On the basis of performance in the Written Test, applicants are shortlisted for the Skill Test/Interview in 1:5 (at least 10) ratio.
Skill Test: Conducted for Technical Assistant, Technician 'B', and similar technical posts. It is qualifying in nature (Pass/Fail).
Interview: Conducted for Scientist/Engineer 'SC' posts.
Document Verification: The provisional selection depends on marks in the Written Test (for technical posts) or Interview (for Scientist/Engineer 'SC' posts), and subsequent compulsory document verification.
