Candidates must meet the NIC Scientific/Technical Assistant-A Eligibility 2026 includes educational, age, and valid score parameters, on or before the cutoff date of September 30, 2026.

• Mandatory Score Card: A valid GATE score from 2024, 2025, or 2026 in CS (Computer Science), EC (Electronics & Communication), or DA (Data Science & AI).

• Essential Educational Qualification: Passed M.Sc., MS, MCA, B.E., or B.Tech in fields such as Electronics, Electronics & Communication, Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Systems, or Cyber Security.

• Professional Experience: No previous work experience is required.

• Citizenship: Must be a citizen of India, a subject of Nepal/Bhutan, a specified Tibetan refugee, or a person of Indian origin migrated from designated countries with an eligibility certificate.

• Upper Age Limit: 30 years for Unreserved/EWS, 35 years for SC/ST, and 33 years for OBC-NCL. Age relaxation up to 40 years applies for PwBD candidates.

NIC Scientific/Technical Assistant-A Selection Process 2026 depends on meeting the basic eligibility criteria and performance in a valid GATE examination.

• Merit Preparation: Category-wise merit lists are created for each discipline based on valid GATE scores from 2024, 2025, or 2026. Equal weightage is given to all three GATE years.

• Tie-Breaking Rules: If two or more candidates obtain identical GATE scores, the older GATE score year ranks higher. If the year is also identical, the older candidate in age ranks higher. If a tie persists, a higher percentage in essential educational qualifications decides the merit position.

• Document Verification: Shortlisted candidates undergo strict verification of original documents like birth certificates, degree mark sheets, caste certificates, and GATE score cards.

• Final Appointment: Candidates who pass document verification successfully receive provisional appointment letters.
