Purpose of CCMN 2023 Counselling

CCMN is a platform through which the candidates can apply for the MSc. and M. Tech programmes in prestigious colleges and institutions in India. The candidates apply for CCMN counselling on the basis of their IIT JAM scores. It is a centralised system through which the students can apply for various courses from their home. CCMN was initiated in the year 2015 and has undergone several upgrades to offer more convenience to the students. The process of CCMN counselling is done in three stages which includes:
  1. Online Registration : At this stage, the students need to register themselves on the CCMN platform and fill the application form. The choices are to be filled and locked at this stage. After locking the choices, the students need to pay the registration fees.
  1. Counselling Rounds : After submitting the applications, the counselling of the students begins. It includes three rounds including seat allotment, uploading documents, paying seat acceptance fees, confirming willingness, and verifying the documents online.
  1. Final admission : After screening the applications and documents, the admission is granted at the allotted institute.
Apart from these rounds, two special rounds are also organised to fill-up the remaining vacant seats. The process of the special rounds are similar to the ones mentioned above.

CCMN 2023 Counselling Eligibility Requirements

Before registering for the CCMN counselling, the students must confirm whether they are eligible for this process or not. The CCMN eligibility requirements are stated in the below table:
Eligibility Criteria Details
Entrance Test IIT JAM 2024
Educational Qualification Graduation with at least 6.5 CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average) or 60% aggregate marks. 6.0 CGPA or 55% aggregate marks for candidates who belong to the SC/ST/and PwD categories.
Provisional Admission The candidates who have recently appeared for their graduation and are awaiting the results can also apply for CCMN counselling. A provisional admission is granted to such candidates. However, they must submit their graduation completion certificate before the verification round.

How is the CCMN Merit List prepared?

The preparation of the merit list is an important part of the CCMN counselling. While creating the merit list, the candidates who have scored a higher IIT JAM score get a first preference. For example, for CCMN 2024 counselling, the candidate who gets the highest IIT JAM 2024 score will top the merit list. If two candidates manage to get the same scores, the older candidate will be preferred over the younger candidate. Therefore, the date of birth forms an important criterion while choosing between the candidates with the same JAM scores. Though highly unlikely, some students may possess the same percentile, JAM scores, and age. In this case, the preference will be based on the random number generation process. In this process, a random number will be generated for the candidates and the candidates who get a lower number will be preferred over the candidate with a higher number. In this situation, the preference is given on the basis of pure luck.

CCMN 2023 Counselling Registration Process

The following steps are to be followed during the CCMN registration process:

Step 1: Visit the website

The candidates must first visit the official website of CCMN. On this website, they will find a link named ‘New Candidate Registration’. Upon clicking this link, a set of instructions will appear on a separate page. The candidates must go through these instructions and continue the registration process by ticking the box placed at the bottom of the page.

Step 2: Enter details

A registration form will appear on the screen. The candidates must provide all the correct details in this form. Name, JAM registration number, IIT JAM scores, and other details will be asked at this stage.

Step 3: Review details

After filling the registration form, the candidates should review all the details to verify whether they are correct or not. Now, they can choose a password to log into the portal. Remembering the password is essential to login without any issues.

Step 4: Confirmation

Once the candidates complete the registration process, they will receive a confirmation email and SMS. This email and SMS will contain their login credentials.

CCMN 2023 Counselling Process

After registering on the CCMN’s website, the candidates need to follow these steps to complete the counselling process:

Step 1: CCMN 2023 Application Filling

After logging in the portal after registration, the candidates can start filling the CCMN application form. The education qualifications, JAM scores, and other details are to be filled now. The candidates will also be asked to upload their digital photograph and signature at this stage.

Step 2: Paying the application fee

Once the CCMN application is submitted, the candidates will need to submit the application fee. The application fee can be paid online through net banking, UPI, mobile wallets, eChallan, debit card, or credit card. It is recommended that they review all their application details before submitting the fee. After paying the fee, the candidates must agree to the terms and conditions and confirm that all the details filled in the application form are true. Note: An application or registration fee of Rs. 3000 is applicable for the candidates who belong to the general, OBC, and EWS categories. Those who belong to the SC/ST/and PwD categories must pay Rs. 2500 as application fee.

Step 3: Choice Filling

At this stage, the candidates will be allowed to select the institutes/programmes in their order of preference. Only the available institutes and courses can be selected. Once they are happy with their choice filling, they can lock their choices. If any changes, deletion, or modification is to be done, the candidates must do it before locking their choices.

Step 4: Seat Allotment Round

After submitting the CCMN application, three counselling rounds will be conducted. The seats will be allotted to the candidates in each round. The seat allotment results will be displayed on the official site of CCMN.

Step 5: Paying Seat Acceptance Fee

The candidates who are happy with the seat allotment can pay the seat acceptance fee to confirm the same. After paying this fee, they will receive a Provisional Seat Allotment Certificate. They can download this certificate or letter by logging in their account. Note: General, OBC, and EWS candidates have to pay a seat acceptance fee of Rs. 15,000. The seat acceptance fee is Rs. 10,000 for the ST/SC/and PwD candidates.

Step 6: Submission of Willingness

This is an important stage in the CCMN 2023 Counselling round. Here the candidates will have 3 choices for seat acceptance: Freeze: The candidates who are happy with their seat allocation can choose this option. After selecting the ‘freeze’ option, they will not be able to upgrade their seats further. Slide: The candidates who wish for a higher preference choice within the institutes in which they are allotted can choose this option. Float: The candidates who are willing to go for other seat upgrades can select this option. The candidates can also exercise the ‘Change of Willingness’ option. Under this option, they can change their allotted seat and participate in the next seat allotment round. Only the candidates who have chosen the ‘float’ option can select this option. ‘Withdrawal’ option is for the candidates who do not wish to participate in the further seat allotment rounds.

Step 7: Document Submission

Once the candidates are happy with their seat allotment, they can confirm their interest by submitting the documents. The institute in which the candidate has been offered a seat shall verify the documents online. If the institute finds any discrepancies in the submitted documents, they will ask the candidate to provide clarifications within a set timeline. After verifying the documents or analysing the clarifications, it shall provide the document verification letter to the candidate. The rest of the fee should be paid after this to finish the admission process. These are the documents that are required to be submitted to complete the CCMN 2023 Counselling process:
