How Om Soni Secured AIR 21 in IIT JAM 2026 Chemistry with PW

Om Soni secured AIR 21 in IIT JAM 2026 Chemistry with 61.67 marks. A student at Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Om prepared for the exam while managing his college studies. His preparation became more focused during the later stages, as he increased his attention to the IIT JAM syllabus and practice.

Instead of relying on multiple books, Om mainly followed PW’s Sakar Pro Batch, video lectures, DPPs, and repeated revision. His journey shows how consistent practice and patience can help students prepare effectively alongside college.

Om Soni’s IIT JAM 2026 Result Exceeded His Expectations

Om was pleasantly surprised by his AIR 21 result. Before the examination, he expected his marks and rank to be considerably lower, making the final result an especially memorable moment.

Talking about his expectations, he said:

“Itna toh expected nahi kiya tha hum logon ne. Hum like 60 mein toh isse pehle ek time aata toh hum khush ho jaate. Itna achha hoga expected nahi tha, bilkul bhi nahi.”

With 61.67 marks, Om secured a place among the top IIT JAM 2026 Chemistry candidates. His result reflected the impact of the preparation he continued despite balancing college responsibilities.

Om Soni Balanced BHU Studies with IIT JAM Preparation

Om was pursuing his studies at BHU while preparing for IIT JAM. Like many college students, he had to manage regular academic commitments alongside entrance exam preparation.

He joined PW's Sakar Pro Batch during his fourth semester but initially could not follow the classes regularly because of his college schedule. As the examination approached, however, he increased his focus on JAM preparation.

“Sir Sakar Pro batch tha. Usi se matlab main jab third year mein aaya toh third year nahi, matlab fourth semester mein aaya toh maine le liya tha. Achha toh matlab regular follow nahi karta tha shuruaat mein kyunki exam rehta tha. Bahut heavy classes chalti thi hum logon pe. Phir last mein zyada focus kiya hoon uspe.”

This shift in focus helped Om make better use of the time available to him and complete the important parts of his preparation.

Om Relied on PW Lectures, DPPs and Regular Practice

Rather than collecting several study resources, Om kept his preparation relatively focused. He followed the video lectures, solved DPPs, and continued practising questions.

When asked what he would suggest to students starting their preparation, he emphasised taking the process step by step:

“Thoda patience ke saath dheere-dheere aap logon ke saath matlab video lete raho. Phir DPP solve karte raho, sawaal lagao. Aur phir last mein question practice zyada karo.”

This approach helped him avoid unnecessary pressure in the early stages while gradually building his preparation for the examination.

Om Focused on Repeated Revision for IIT JAM Chemistry

Revision was an important part of Om's strategy. Instead of trying to cover too many additional resources, he repeatedly went through important concepts and topics.

For example, he had revised Coordination Chemistry several times because of its importance in the syllabus.

“Sir, ye toh important chapter hota hai, toh isse zyada baar padhe hain. 8–10 baar toh ho hi gaya hoga.”

His experience highlights that revision does not always have to follow a fixed number of rounds. Important topics may require repeated exposure until the concepts become familiar and easier to recall during the examination.

Om Kept His Study Resources Limited

Om did not depend heavily on reference books during his preparation. Since he was also managing his semester studies, he found it difficult to devote enough time to completing multiple books.

He explained:

“Organic mein thoda reference kiya, par majority mera notes mein hi help hua hai. Kyunki book padhne ka time itna, like semester ki padhai hoti hai, uske baad JAM ki padhai. Toh itna time nahi mil pata ki poora book padh ke poora solve karun.”

For Physical Chemistry, he also mentioned using Sharma Pathania Sir’s book for solving questions. Overall, however, his preparation remained centred around his class notes and practice material.

Om Gave Importance to Question Practice

For Om, solving questions was an important part of preparing for IIT JAM. He advised future aspirants to gradually increase their question practice, especially as the examination gets closer.

His advice was simple:

“Video lectures follow karein. DPP lagayein jaise sir log bolte hain, thoda-thoda hi karein shuruaat mein.”

He also pointed out that students should not try to complete everything too quickly at the beginning. Building preparation gradually gives students more time to revise and practise questions later.

Om Advises Students to Stay Patient in the Beginning

Om understands that the initial phase of IIT JAM preparation can feel overwhelming. Students often want to finish the syllabus quickly or use multiple books and resources.

Based on his experience, he recommended starting slowly and maintaining consistency rather than rushing through the preparation.

“Abhi toh matlab bahut zyada jaldi-jaldi lagta hai shuruaat mein ki ye kar loon, woh kar loon. Lekin utna thoda karte jao, kyunki last mein bahut zyada syllabus ho jaata hai. Usko revision bhi zyada padega. Question practice important hai.”

His preparation shows that students can benefit from following a manageable routine and gradually increasing their practice as the exam approaches.

Om’s Mother Was His Biggest Motivation

Behind Om’s preparation was also the motivation to make his family proud. He shared that his mother was his biggest source of motivation.

After learning about his AIR 21 result, his mother became emotional.

“Sir, meri mummy.”

When asked about her reaction after hearing about his rank, Om replied:

“Yes sir, woh rone lagi thi. Unko bataya.”

For Om, the result was therefore not just an academic achievement. It was also a moment of happiness and pride for his family.

Om Plans to Pursue a Master’s at an IIT

With AIR 21 in IIT JAM 2026 Chemistry, Om now has several options for his next academic step. He expressed his interest in pursuing a master's degree at an IIT, with IIT Bombay among the options he was considering.

His longer-term goal is to continue towards research and potentially pursue a PhD abroad.

“Iske baad hamari ichha hai ki agar koi achha IIT mil jaayega toh IIT mein Masters karenge. Phir meri personal ichha hai ki main abroad jaake PhD karna chahta hoon.”

His plans show that IIT JAM is not the end of his academic journey but an important step towards his larger research goals.

Om Soni’s IIT JAM 2026 Success Offers a Simple Strategy for Aspirants

Om Soni’s journey to AIR 21 in IIT JAM 2026 Chemistry shows that students do not necessarily need a large number of resources to prepare effectively. While balancing his studies at BHU, he followed PW’s Sakar Pro, video lectures, DPPs, notes, and repeated revision.

His experience also highlights the value of patience, consistent question practice, and revising important topics multiple times. For future IIT JAM aspirants, Om’s journey offers a practical lesson: start steadily, stay consistent, practise questions regularly, and give yourself enough time for revision.
