Scoring 99.88 percentile in JEE Main is not just a number on a scorecard. It reflects months of silent discipline, moments of self-doubt, repeated revisions, and the courage to trust the right mentorship.
Akshat Mittal’s journey was not built on shortcuts or extraordinary background advantages. It shows how self-doubt turned into confidence, and how consistent effort under the right mentorship turned preparation into 99.88 percentile performance.
Every success story has a starting point. For Akshat Mittal, it did not begin with a clear plan or guidance. It began with uncertainty. In Class 10, he did not even know what IIT-JEE was.
“Sir jaise ki jab main 10th mein tha na to 10 tak mujhe pata hi nahi tha IIT JEE kya hota hai”
“Toh jab mere 10th ke board the usse ek mahine pehle maine jo hai TV par news suni thi ek JEE ko exam hota jab maine thoda bahut research kiya jab mujhe pata chala exam hota hai engineering college pe jaane ke liye"
Curiosity turned into research. But confusion was still there.
"To uske liye maine thodi bahut research aur ki to jab mujhe PW ke baare mein bhi nahi pata tha koi coaching baare mein nahi pata tha to jab maine wapas thodi chaanbeen ki to maine ek coaching mein gaya wahan meri fees lagi Rs. 1 lakh wo Rs. 1 lakh maang rahe the"
"To mere papa to ready the papa to ready the lekin mujhe apne pe vishwas nahi tha ki main ek lakh ka utilise kar paunga nahi kar paunga"
That self-doubt changed his decision.
"Isliye maine socha main khud hi try karunga to main isliye main apne jo hai books le aaya"
"Books jaise main poori saari usi samay utha laya tha ek saath mujhe lekin kuch ata pata to nahi tha lekin main phir bhi le aaya tha thoda josh chadha tha us samay mujhe 10th mein hi le aaya tha"
But reality hit when he tried studying alone.
"Jab maine books padhi to mujhe laga ki mere se kuch nahi ho raha haan samajh mein nahi aa rahi hai samajh mein kuch nahi aa raha tha"
And then came the turning point.
"To maine ek din YouTube pe wo dekha add dekha tha ki koi Lakshya Arjuna batch ki faculty reveal ho rahi thi to wahan se mujhe pata chala”
“To maine wahan se phir papa se baat ki to maine apne birthday wale din wo khareeda papa se keh ke are wah ki papa ye dila do"
What began as doubt in Class 10 turned into a clear direction on his birthday. That was the moment Akshat Mittal’s real JEE preparation began with Physics Wallah guiding the way.

For many students, the biggest confusion is the difference between board preparation and JEE preparation. Akshat experienced that difference clearly, especially in Mathematics.
"Sir board level aur JEE level mein sir bahut fark hai wo to maanna padega math mein, physics mein itna nahi hai ek baar lekin math mein bahut zyada fark hai.”
“Agar humne JEE level ki padhai kar li to pehli baar board ki tension hai hi nahi math mein matlab ek baar aapne JEE ke liye prepare kar liya then you don't have to prepare separately for boards boards bhi usi mein aa gaye"
This statement shows how Physics Wallah’s content was not limited to board-level basics. The level of questions, illustrations and practice was aligned with JEE standards.
The same clarity is reflected in how Akshat Mittal approached Chemistry. Instead of running after multiple books, he followed exactly what his teachers advised.
"Chemistry mein NCERT to thi mere pe lekin maine har chapter ki to nahi sirf periodic table ki chemical bonding aise kuch chapter the jisme theory hai zyada aur jaise biomolecule unme padi hai baaki har chapter ke liye to nahi padi.”
“Kyunki sir ne keh diya tha ki class notes more than sufficient hai ki zarurat nahi hai aapko isliye itni isliye maine sirf kuch hi chapters mein padi thi jisme exception hote zyada warna maine mainly class notes pe wo kiya tha"
This shows discipline and trust. When teachers clearly said that class notes were more than sufficient, he did not overcomplicate things. He followed the system sincerely. That consistency removed confusion and saved time.
When asked about the teachers at Physics Wallah, Akshat Mittal did not use complicated words.
"Sir extraordinary keh sakta"
"Kuch teachers apni tabiyat chhod ke pehle pehle hum matlab padhane mein hai, matlab kaise bataun.”
“Unke liye hamari jeet unki jeet"
This was not just about completing the syllabus. It was about effort beyond expectation. It was about teachers showing up even when unwell. It was about emotional investment.
Scoring 99.88 percentile was not about studying randomly. It was about following a clear system, lectures, DPPs, revision, and practice. Akshat Mittal explained his routine very honestly.
He shared how he balanced school and PW classes:
"Main kabhi kabhi jaata tha school to uske jis din maan lijiye jaise main school gaya to uske baad jaise aapki class hoti thi maan lijiye poore din matlab class khatam karke school khatam karke main pehle to sabse pehle ke DPP mein kabhi kabhi lagana bhool jaata tha jo us din mili lekin main lagata tha saari saari lagata tha DPP"
Even if he sometimes delayed, he never skipped DPPs. He made sure every single one was solved. That daily practice built consistency.
Along with DPPs, he also practised extra questions.
"Uske alawa main kuch extra question bhi lagata tha, publication ki book bhi karta tha, uske jo hai single correct question karta tha abhi.”
“Multiple correct mein itna focus nahi tha ab hoga advance ke liye lekin main ab tak single correct lagata tha uske alawa saare PYQ saare kare maine aaj tak"
Solving all PYQs gave him exam-level confidence. Patterns became familiar. Mistakes reduced. But the most powerful part of his preparation was revision.
"Sir jaise ki jo paper 27 ko tha to poora January tha hamare paas revision ke liye to uske liye jo hai maine maine ek mere to complete notes to mere hai hi hai jo maine apne poore saal bhar banaye the.”
“Uske alawa maine ek alag register banaya tha jisme maine poora 11th 12th ka poora syllabus ek baar wapas likh liya tha very short form mein.”
“Jaise ki matrix determinant hai wo sirf do page mein khatam ho gaya mera matrix determinant sirf main main koi question nahi tha sirf theory aur main cheeze.”
“Us tarah very short notes bana poora matlab physics chemistry math teeno maine ek hi register mein likh liye the poore poore ek ek important point jo tha main main important point to main matlab din mein ek do baar wahi register padh leta tha to mera har din poora syllabus revise ho raha tha"
Instead of revising bulky notebooks, he revised one compact register containing only the most important points of all three subjects. Because of that, he could revise the entire syllabus again and again in less time.
And when concepts felt difficult, he did not quit midway. As he had already shared:
"Kabhi kabhi aisa lagta tha ki kabhi kabhi samajh nahi aa raha to us samay agar hamari jaise ki maths agar by chance kabhi first class hui usme kuch samajh nahi aa raha to pehle to class lekin poori dekh leta tha.”
