JEE Main 2026 Session 1 Marks Calculation: National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the provisional answer key for JEE Main 2026 Session 1 (Paper 1 – B.E./B.Tech) along with the candidate response sheets. Using these two documents, aspirants can calculate their expected or tentative score ahead of the official result announcement. The final score will be prepared only after all objections are reviewed and the final answer key is published.
To calculate your marks accurately, download the following from the official website jeemain.nta.nic.in:
Response Sheet – shows the answers you marked in the exam
Provisional Answer Key – contains the correct answers released by NTA
Open your response sheet and the provisional answer key side by side.
Match each question’s response with the official answer.
Count the number of correct, incorrect, and unattempted questions.
Apply the official marking scheme to arrive at your raw score.
The same marking scheme applies to MCQs (Section A) and Numerical Value Questions (Section B):
Correct Answer: +4 marks
Incorrect Answer: −1 mark
Unattempted Question: 0 marks
Important: Negative marking is applicable to both sections, including numerical value questions.
Total Score = (Number of Correct Answers × 4) − (Number of Incorrect Answers × 1)
Make sure to include incorrect attempts from both Section A and Section B to avoid overestimating your score.
