Filling the JEE Main 2025 application form is the first big step for lakhs of aspirants aiming to join top engineering colleges like the IITs, NITs, and IIITs. The National Testing Agency (NTA) has introduced new technical and document-related updates this year. Understanding these before applying can help you avoid rejection or mistakes that might affect your eligibility.
Follow the official NTA instructions carefully to avoid rejection or errors. Start by registering with a valid email ID and mobile number, then fill in personal, academic, and exam details accurately.
Visit the official NTA website – jeemain.nta.ac.in
Register using basic details – name, email, and mobile number.
Fill in application details – personal information, educational qualification, and exam preference.
Upload documents – as per the format listed above.
Pay the exam fee – online through debit card, credit card, or UPI.
Download confirmation page – keep both soft and hard copies for records.
Note: Always verify entries before final submission. Even a small spelling mismatch in name or birth date can cause document verification issues later.
Before you start filling out the form, make sure to keep clear and correct documents ready. The NTA has made several updates to format and size requirements this year.

While the NTA has simplified the process, several candidates still faced difficulties this year:
Technical Errors: Server slowdowns and payment gateway failures during peak hours.
Photo, 80% of the Face Visible & Signature Issues: Uploads rejected due to the wrong size, poor lighting, or incorrect orientation.
Aadhaar Mismatch: Spelling or number differences between Aadhaar and school records caused verification errors.
Document Upload Format: Many students used PNG or HEIC files instead of the required JPG/PDF formats.
Typing or Data Entry Mistakes: Wrong date of birth, category code, or exam city selected in haste.
Mobile Form Filling: Forms submitted via phone browsers often showed incomplete or misplaced entries.
The NTA has introduced stricter verification for photos, Aadhaar details, and category certificates to ensure authenticity.
Photo clarity and background: White/light background photos only; no selfies allowed.
Aadhaar Verification: Full Aadhaar number not mandatory, but it must match name and birth date exactly.
Category Validation: Candidates must upload valid category certificates in the latest format issued after April 2024.
Email & Mobile Linking: One mobile number and email ID can be used for only one candidate.
Correction Window: Will open briefly after registration closes, but only limited fields (category, paper, city) can be edited.
