  • Gate Closing: The entry gate closes 30 to 40 minutes before the exam starts. No candidate is allowed inside the centre after the gate is closed.

  • Required Documents: Everyone must carry a physical printout of the JEE Advanced 2026 Admit Card. Along with this, an original photo ID (like Aadhaar Card, PAN Card, or Passport) is compulsory.

  • Identity Check: Security staff will check the admit card and the photo ID at the main gate. If the names or photos do not match, entry may be denied

JEE Advanced Exam Day Instructions

The exam day is long and requires a lot of energy. Following these JEE Advanced Exam Day Instructions will help in staying calm and focused.

  • Two Papers: The exam consists of Paper 1 (morning shift) and Paper 2 (afternoon shift). Both are compulsory. If a candidate misses one paper, their result will not be calculated.

  • Computer Login: On reaching the assigned computer lab, candidates should verify their name and photo on the screen. Use the roll number as the login ID and date of birth as the password.

  • Reading Time: There is a specific window of time before the exam starts to read the instructions on the screen. One should use this time carefully to understand the marking scheme and question types.

  • No Leaving Early: Candidates are not allowed to leave the exam hall before the scheduled end time of the paper, even if they finish early.

IIT JEE Advanced Dress Code 2026

The dress code is strictly enforced to prevent cheating. Candidates should choose simple and comfortable clothes as per the IIT JEE Advanced dress code 2026.

  • Clothes: Wear light-colored, half-sleeved T-shirts or shirts. Avoid clothes with large buttons, heavy embroidery, or many pockets. Hoodies and jackets are not allowed.

  • Bottom Wear: Simple trousers, jeans, or leggings are allowed. Avoid wearing belts with large metal buckles.

  • Footwear: Only open footwear like slippers, sandals, or floaters is permitted. Closed-toe shoes and boots are strictly prohibited.

  • Jewellery: Do not wear any jewellery like rings, bracelets, necklaces, or earrings. These items will be removed at the security gate.

  • Hair: Hair should be tied back simply. Fancy hair clips or headgear like caps and hats are not allowed.

JEE Advanced Biometric Verification

To prevent impersonation, every student must go through biometric verification:

  • Fingerprints and Photos: Before entering the examination lab, fingerprints and a live photograph will be taken.

  • Attendance: This biometric data is also used to mark the digital attendance of the candidate.

  • Clean Hands: It is advised not to apply mehndi, ink, or paint on the fingers, as this can interfere with the fingerprint scanner.

  • Future Use: These biometric records are kept by the IITs and are used again during the admission and counselling process to verify the identity of the student.

Prohibited Items in the JEE Advanced Exam Hall

Students should not carry any prohibited items to the exam centre.

  • Electronics: No calculators, log tables, health bands, or digital watches.

  • Stationery: No geometry boxes, pouches, or pieces of paper.

  • Personal Gear: Large wallets, belts with massive buckles, and goggles are generally not allowed inside the testing room.

JEE Advanced Rough Sheet Instructions

JEE Advanced Rough Sheet Instructions are for the students to follow using the CBT exam mode.

  • Scribble Pad: A "Scribble Pad" will be placed on each candidate's desk for rough calculations.

  • Name and Roll Number: Students must write their name and roll number on the front page of the scribble pad as soon as they receive it.

  • Submission: After the exam ends, the scribble pad must be returned to the invigilator. Taking the scribble pad out of the exam hall is a serious violation of the rules.

  • Extra Pads: Usually, only one scribble pad is provided per paper. Candidates should use the space wisely.
