The detailed JEE Main 2026 January 23 Shift 1 difficulty level is updated here after the exam concludes at 12 noon. There is a noticeable variation between the two sessions, with one shift being slightly more time-consuming for some candidates.
The overall balance of conceptual and numerical questions is expected to remain consistent with earlier days of the exam. Student feedback suggested the paper followed the expected JEE Main Session 1 pattern.
Based on trends from Day 1 (Jan 21) and Day 2 (Jan 22), the following predictions are made for today’s exam.
Overall: Moderate and Lengthy
Mathematics: Moderate and challenging
Physics: Moderate, a few questions were Calculative
Chemistry: Moderate and Lengthy
Overall: Moderate to slightly easier than Shift 1
Mathematics: Lengthy but manageable
Physics: Moderate with conceptual + numerical mix
Chemistry: Easy to moderate, NCERT-based
Physics remained largely formula-driven with a balanced mix of conceptual and numerical questions, making it approachable for most candidates.
Chemistry was mostly NCERT-oriented and straightforward, helping students attempt a higher number of questions confidently.
Mathematics was comparatively lengthy and calculation-intensive, requiring strong time management across both shifts.
