JEE Main 2026 Photo Requirements for Session 2: National Testing Agency (NTA) has specified strict photo upload guidelines for candidates filling the JEE Main 2026 Session 2 application form. Uploading a correct and clear photograph is a crucial part of the registration process, as the same image is used on the admit card, attendance sheet, and during counselling. Any mismatch or incorrect photo format may lead to application rejection or issues during verification. With JEE Main 2026 Session 2 registration expected to begin in the last week of January 2026, candidates are advised to prepare their photographs in advance and ensure they strictly follow the official NTA specifications while uploading images on jeemain.nta.nic.in.
Candidates must upload a recent passport-size photograph while filling the JEE Main 2026 Session 2 application form. The photograph should be in colour and must clearly show the candidate’s face against a plain background. NTA uses this photograph for identity verification throughout the examination process, including admit card issuance and exam-day attendance. Blurred images, selfies, group photos, or photographs with dark backgrounds are strictly not accepted. The uploaded photo must match the candidate’s current appearance to avoid discrepancies during verification.
As per NTA instructions, the photograph uploaded for JEE Main 2026 must be a recent passport-size colour photo with 80% face visibility, including ears, and without any mask. The background should be plain white or light-coloured with proper lighting. The image must be in JPG or JPEG format and should be clearly legible. Candidates must ensure that no caps, goggles, or sunglasses are worn in the photograph. NTA reserves the right to verify photographs at any stage, and uploading someone else’s photograph may be treated as an unfair means practice.
The passport-size photograph for JEE Main 2026 Session 2 must be uploaded in JPG/JPEG format only. The file size should be between 10 KB and 200 KB. The photograph should be sharp, properly cropped, and free from shadows or reflections. Candidates are advised to scan the photograph clearly before uploading and verify that the image is not distorted or pixelated. Incorrect file size or format may lead to errors during form submission.
