The exam will be held in two sessions: Session 1 from January 21 to 30, 2026, and Session 2 from April 1 to 10, 2026. JEE Main 2026 will have two papers: Paper 1 and Paper 2. The results will be released on February 12, 2026.

Paper 1 (BE/BTech) – Computer-Based Test (CBT)

This paper will have questions from Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry. Each subject will contain 25 questions, divided into two parts. Section A will include 20 multiple-choice questions (MCQs), and Section B will have 5 numerical questions. Incorrect answers in both sections will result in negative marking. For numerical questions in Section B, candidates must enter the correct integer value using the on-screen numeric keypad. Answers should be rounded to the nearest integer.

Marking Scheme for MCQs:

  • 4 marks for each correct answer

  • 1 mark will be deducted for each incorrect answer

  • No marks will be deducted for unanswered questions

Marking Scheme for Numerical Questions:

  • 4 marks for each correct answer

  • 1 mark will be deducted for each incorrect answer

  • No marks for unanswered or reviewed questions

The total marks for Paper 1 will be 300, with each subject carrying 100 marks. Scores in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and the total will be converted into NTA scores. The overall merit list will be prepared by combining NTA scores from all shifts and sessions.

Paper 2A (BArch):

This paper will have three parts: Mathematics (Part I) and Aptitude Test (Part II) in CBT mode, and Drawing Test (Part III) in pen-and-paper mode on an A4 sheet. There will be 77 questions in total, carrying 400 marks.

  • Part I (Mathematics): 25 questions divided into two sections — 20 MCQs in Section A and 5 numerical questions in Section B (100 marks total).

  • Part II (Aptitude Test): 50 questions for 200 marks.

  • Part III (Drawing Test): 2 questions for 100 marks.

There will be negative marking in both Section A and Section B of Part I. Numerical answers must be entered as integers using the on-screen keypad and rounded to the nearest whole number.

Paper 2B (BPlanning):

This paper will include three parts: Mathematics (Part I), Aptitude Test (Part II), and Planning-Based Questions (Part III), all in CBT mode. Part I will have 20 MCQs in Section A and 5 numerical questions in Section B. Both sections will include negative marking.
