The 2026 January session witnessed a record-breaking registration of 13.55 lakh+ candidates, with an impressive 96.26% attendance rate. The geographic spread of the toppers indicates a highly competitive environment across India:
Rajasthan's Dominance: With 3 toppers (Kabeer, Chiranjib, and Arnav), Rajasthan remains the hub of JEE preparation.
South Indian Excellence: Andhra Pradesh and Telangana together secured 3 spots in the 100-percentile list.
Female Category Topper: While no female candidate hit the 100 percentile mark this session, Ashi Grewal from Haryana emerged as the national female topper with an outstanding 99.9969766 percentile.
Category Toppers: Narendrababu Gari Mahith (Andhra Pradesh) topped the OBC-NCL category with 100 percentile, while Deva Srivedh (Andhra Pradesh) led the SC category with 99.9992271 percentile.
It is important to note that a 100 percentile does not automatically mean AIR 1 for everyone in this list. The final All India Rank (AIR) will be determined after the April Session (Session 2) concludes. NTA will use a tie-breaking policy—prioritizing scores in Mathematics, followed by Physics and Chemistry—to assign unique ranks. If a tie remains, the ratio of incorrect to correct answers is considered.
