The JEE Main 2025 Session 2 will be conducted in different modes depending on the paper. Paper 1 for B.E./B.Tech is going to be held in a Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode.
For Paper 2A (B.Arch), the Mathematics and Aptitude sections will also be conducted in CBT (Computer-Based Test) mode, while the Drawing Test will be held offline on A4 sheets.
Paper 2B (B. Planning) is going to be entirely computer-based, covering Mathematics, Aptitude, and Planning-based questions. Applicants should make sure that they are familiar with the JEE Main Session 2 exam pattern to perform well on the test day.
The NTA is going to conduct three papers under the JEE Main 2025 Session 2: Paper 1 (B.E./B.Tech), Paper 2A (B.Arch), and Paper 2B (B.Planning). The B.E./B.Tech paper will consist of 75 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) carrying a total of 300 marks.
The exam will be conducted in 13 languages, including Hindi, English, Gujarati, and regional languages like Assamese, Bengali, Tamil, and others. NTA has introduced some changes in the JEE Main 2025 Exam Pattern.
Section B in Paper 1 (B.E./B.Tech) and the Mathematics section of Papers 2A and 2B will not have optional questions.
Instead, test takers must attempt all five numerical value questions in each subject.
The total exam duration will be three hours (180 minutes), with an extended four-hour duration for PwD applicants.
The marking scheme remains the same: +4 marks for each correct answer and -1 mark for each incorrect answer, while unattempted questions will not be penalized.
The second attempt of JEE Main 2025 has seen a significant number of applicants. In the January session, around 12.58 lakh applicants took the exam. For the April session, more than 2 lakh 6 thousand new applicants have registered so far. With an expected 95% attendance, around 2 lakh 45 thousand applicants are likely to take the JEE Main 2025 April exam. This brings the total number of unique applicants across both sessions to over 15 lakh, marking a new record for JEE Main participation.
JEE Main 2025 Session 2 is important for engineering aspirants as it provides another chance to improve their performance and secure admission to top institutes. Applicants who were not satisfied with their January session scores can attempt the exam again to achieve a better percentile.
For those appearing for the first time, this session is their opportunity to qualify for NITs, IIITs, GFTIs, and other reputed engineering colleges.
A strong performance in Session 2 can also help applicants meet the eligibility criteria for JEE Advanced 2025, which is the gateway to IITs. Since many colleges consider the best score out of both attempts, scoring well in this session can boost admission chances.
Additionally, the JEE Main 2025 Session 2 exam helps applicants refine their test-taking strategies, manage time effectively, and overcome previous mistakes, making it an essential step in their engineering journey.
With only 22 days left for JEE Main 2025 Session 2, a well-structured preparation plan can be a game changer. In addition to focusing on revision, mock tests, and time management to improve their scores, here is a detailed strategy to make the best use of the remaining days leading to the JEE Main 2025 April attempt:
Study Physics and Chemistry from NCERT textbooks, as they help in strengthening the basics.
In Mathematics, focus on core concepts from Classes 11 and 12, especially Calculus, Algebra, and Coordinate Geometry.
Revise important formulas, theorems, and reaction mechanisms regularly.
Identify weak areas by analyzing previous mistakes in mock tests and practice papers.
Pay extra attention to topics like numerical problems in Physics and reaction mechanisms in Chemistry.
Make short notes for quick revision of formulas and key concepts.
Study for 6 to 8 hours daily, dividing time equally among subjects.
Suggested timetable:
Morning: Physics/Maths (problem-solving)
Afternoon: Chemistry/Aptitude (concept revision)
Evening: Mock test and revision of formulas and notes
Take short breaks to stay focused and avoid burnout.
Attempt one full-length JEE Mock Test daily and treat it like the actual exam.
Solve JEE Main previous years' question papers to understand important topics and question patterns.
Focus on time-bound practice by solving 3-hour tests under exam conditions.
While solving questions, stick to time limits for each subject.
Use shortcut methods for solving Maths problems quickly.
Avoid making silly mistakes in numerical-based questions.
Get 7 to 8 hours of sleep daily to keep the mind fresh.
Follow a light diet and stay hydrated.
Include 15 to 20 minutes of exercise or meditation to stay stress-free.
