What is NTA Score in JEE Main 2026 Results

What is NTA Score in JEE Main 2026 Results: The National Testing Agency (NTA) will release the JEE Main 2026 results with NTA scores expected on February 16. What is the NTA Score in JEE Main 2026 Results are percentile scores. It is calculated based on normalized scores from the JEE Main 2026 exam. The normalization method applied in calculating the JEE Main score ensures providing a fair chance to the candidates, irrespective of the shift difficulty level.

How NTA Score Works in JEE Main 2026?

The NTA score for JEE Main is designed to minimise score differences. These disparities can arise from varying difficulty levels across multiple examination sessions. The National Testing Agency (NTA) converts a candidate's raw score into an NTA score. This is achieved by applying a normalization formula to the actual exam score.

How to Calculate NTA Score?

The NTA score in JEE Main is determined using the normalization formula. It ensures a fair comparison of candidates' performances across different sessions. The percentile score reflects the percentage of candidates who scored equal to or less than a particular candidate in a given session.

Score Type

Calculation Formula

Total Percentile (T1P)

(100 x No. of candidates from the session with a raw score equal to or less than the T1 score) / Total No. of candidates who appeared in the session

Mathematics Percentile (M1P)

(100 x No. of candidates appeared from the session with a raw score equal to or less than the M1 score in Mathematics) / Total No. of candidates who appeared in the session

Physics Percentile (P1P)

(100 x No. of candidates appeared from the session with a raw score equal to or less than the P1 score in Physics) / Total No. of candidates who appeared in the session

Chemistry Percentile (C1P)

(100 x No. of candidates appeared from the session with a raw score equal to or less than the C1 score in Chemistry. / Total No. of candidates who appeared in the session

Importance of NTA Score in JEE Main

NTA score offers several key advantages in the JEE Main 2026 result process. It ensures fairness and simplifies result processing. The normalization process aims for an unbiased assessment of all candidates.

  • Equal and Unbiased Result: JEE Main 2026 is conducted over multiple sessions. Each session may have question papers of varying difficulty. The NTA score, through its normalization procedure, guarantees a fair and equal opportunity for all candidates. It standardises scores across these diverse sessions.

  • Easier to Break Ties: The NTA score in the JEE Main result streamlines the resolution of ties in raw scores. The guidelines for JEE Main 2026 tie-breaking are applied sequentially as follows:

  • NTA score in Mathematics

  • NTA score in Physics

  • NTA score in Chemistry

  • Candidate with a lower proportion of attempted incorrect and correct answers across all subjects in the Test

  • Candidate with a lower proportion of attempted incorrect and correct answers in Mathematics in the Test

  • Candidate with a lower proportion of attempted incorrect and correct answers in Physics in the Test

  • Candidate with a lower proportion of attempted incorrect and correct answers in Chemistry in the Test

  • If a tie persists after these criteria, candidates will receive the same rank.

JEE Main Tie-Breaking Rule for Paper 2 A (B.Arch)

For JEE Main Paper 2 A (B.Arch) sequence resolves ties when two or more candidates achieve equal Total NTA scores.

  • NTA score in Mathematics

  • NTA score in Aptitude Test

  • NTA score in Drawing Test

  • Candidate with a lower proportion of attempted incorrect and correct answers across all subjects in the Test

  • Candidate with a lower proportion of attempted incorrect and correct answers in Mathematics (Part-I) in the Test

  • Candidate with a lower proportion of attempted incorrect and correct answers in Aptitude Test (Part-II) in the Test

  • If a tie still exists, candidates will be assigned the same rank.

JEE Main Tie-Breaking Rule for Paper 2 B (B.Planning)

For the JEE Main 2026 B.Planning exam, a specific tie-breaking procedure is applied if two candidates obtain the same marks. This ensures a consistent and fair method for ranking.

  • NTA score in Mathematics

  • NTA score in Aptitude Test

  • NTA score in Planning-Based Questions

  • Candidate with a lower proportion of attempted incorrect and correct answers across all subjects in the Test

  • Candidate with a lower proportion of attempted incorrect and correct answers in Mathematics (Part-I) in the Test

  • Candidate with a lower proportion of attempted incorrect and correct answers in Aptitude Test (Part-II) in the Test

  • Candidate with a lower proportion of attempted incorrect and correct answers in Planning Based Questions (Part-III) in the Test

  • If a tie remains after these steps, candidates will be assigned the same rank.
