Some preparation journeys are remembered for extraordinary scores. Sudhakar Kumar's stands out for something else: discipline.
While managing Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Biology for his Class 12 boards, he also prepared for IPMAT with a routine that left little room for excuses. From planning his studies months in advance to making the most of Physics Wallah's classes, recordings, practice resources, and interview guidance, every step was driven by one belief: consistency matters more than intensity. That approach eventually helped him secure admission to IIM Indore.
Long before the results, Sudhakar understood that balancing boards and IPMAT would require much more than motivation.
"Main din mein boards ke liye lagbhag 6 ghante padhta tha aur raat ko IPMAT ke liye alag se 6 ghante deta tha."
Rather than studying randomly, he planned every day in advance. He maintained separate time for school studies and IPMAT preparation, setting daily goals so that both moved forward together. That consistency helped him avoid feeling overwhelmed despite managing multiple subjects at once.
As board exams approached, Sudhakar knew it would become difficult to attend classes regularly. Instead of letting that slow him down, he planned ahead.
"PW ke purane batch ki recordings dekh kar maine syllabus pehle hi cover karna shuru kar diya tha."
By covering a large part of the syllabus in advance, he made sure his preparation stayed on track even during boards.
"Boards ke time bhi main 2x pe recordings dekh leta tha taaki preparation ruk na jaye."
Alongside the recordings, he stayed consistent with practice.
"Main har DPP karta tha aur jo questions galat hote the unke liye alag notebook banayi thi."
For Sudhakar, PW's recorded lectures helped him stay ahead of the syllabus, while the DPPs and regular revision ensured that every mistake became an opportunity to improve.
With such a demanding schedule, Sudhakar realised that protecting his study time was just as important as creating it.
"Maine Instagram deactivate kar diya tha aur WhatsApp bhi sirf family ke liye use karta tha."
Rather than trying to balance social media with studies, he consciously reduced distractions.
"Kabhi demotivate hota tha toh bas YouTube pe motivational videos dekh leta tha aur phir wapas padhne baith jaata tha."
This practice allowed him to stay focused on his preparation without constantly breaking his momentum.
The written exam was over, but Sudhakar knew the interview needed a different kind of preparation.
"Interview ke liye maine PW ka dedicated batch join kiya tha."
Through regular mock interviews, he became more comfortable expressing his thoughts instead of worrying about giving perfect answers.
"Mock interviews dene ke baad confidence kaafi improve hua. Mujhe laga ki accent se zyada deserving hona important hai."
That shift in mindset helped him walk into the interview with confidence, knowing that clear communication mattered more than sounding perfect.
For Sudhakar, earning a place at IIM Indore is just the beginning. Growing up in Bihar, he saw that many capable students were unaware of opportunities like IPMAT or believed that institutes like IIMs were out of reach.
"Humare yahan bahut logon ko IIM ke baare mein pata hi nahi hota. Main chahta hoon ki aur bachche bhi is direction mein sochein."
He hopes his own journey encourages more students to aim higher and believe that these opportunities are possible.
"Main chahta hoon ki future mein apne society ke bachchon ko guide karun."
Instead of keeping what he has learned to himself, he wants to help others from his community make informed career choices and prepare with confidence.
Looking back, Sudhakar believes there was no single turning point that led him to IIM Indore. It was the result of showing up every day, following a disciplined routine, and making the most of Physics Wallah's classes, recordings, DPPs, and interview guidance at every stage of his preparation.
His journey shows that balancing boards and IPMAT isn't about finding extra hours in the day; it's about using the time you have with consistency. With the right guidance and a clear plan, even ambitious goals can become achievable.
