If you're planning to write the Symbiosis Entrance Test (SET), the syllabus is where your preparation should start. It tells you what to study, how much weight each section carries, and where to spend your time. SET is a computer-based exam conducted by Symbiosis International (Deemed University) for UG programs like BBA, BCA, and BA (Mass Communication). SET Exam Syllabus 2027 Overview

The SET syllabus has four sections, and you have to attempt all of them. There's no Paper 1 or Paper 2. It's one 60-minute test with no sectional time limit, so you decide how to split your time.

Symbiosis hasn't confirmed the SET 2027 dates yet. Going by previous years, the exam is expected around May 2027. Keep an eye on the official SET website (set-test.org) for the final schedule.

SET Exam Syllabus 2027: Section-Wise Topics

Each section tests a different skill: language, numbers, awareness, and logic. The syllabus is the same for every UG program, whether you're applying for BBA, BCA, or something else.

SET Syllabus for General English (16 Questions)

This section checks how well you handle grammar, vocabulary, and comprehension. Every UG course needs these skills.

Focus on: Reading Comprehension, Vocabulary, Grammar rules, Idioms & Phrases, and Error Detection.

SET Syllabus for Quantitative Aptitude (16 Questions)

The maths here is mostly Class 10 level, with a few topics like Permutation & Combination and Probability going slightly beyond. It tests how quickly and accurately you can solve.

High-weightage topics: Percentages, Profit & Loss, Ratio & Proportion, Time & Work, Number System, Probability, and Algebra.

SET Syllabus for Analytical and Logical Reasoning (12 Questions)

This section is about how you think. It matters for BBA, BCA, and most other programs.

Most important topics: Seating Arrangements, Blood Relations, Puzzles, Direction Sense, Syllogisms, Coding-Decoding, and Statement & Conclusion.

SET Syllabus for General Awareness (16 Questions)

Most students find General Awareness moderate to difficult. It leans heavily on current affairs from the past year, so consistency matters more than last-minute cramming.

Is the SET Syllabus Different for Commerce, Maths or Computer Science?

No. SET doesn't have subject-specific papers. Everyone appearing for a UG program takes the same four-section test, so you don't need to prepare separate Class 11-12 subject syllabi for Commerce, Mathematics or Computer Science.

Here's how the marks are distributed. Each correct answer earns 1 mark, and there's no negative marking, so it's worth attempting every question.

SET Exam Preparation Tips

The syllabus is manageable, but you still need a plan. These tips should help you cover it without burning out.

• Get your Class 10 basics right: Quant is largely Class 10 based, so make sure Algebra, Mensuration, and Arithmetic are solid before moving on.

• Read the news daily: Give General Awareness about 30 minutes a day from a reliable source. Cover the last 9-12 months, with extra attention to business, economy, and national events.

• Practise reasoning every day: Puzzles, blood relations, and syllogisms get easier only with volume, so solve a few daily.

• Take mock tests and review them: You have 60 minutes for 60 questions with no sectional limit. One way to split it is about 12 minutes for English, 8 for GA, 15 for Reasoning, 20 for Quant, and 5 to review. Try full-length mocks regularly and see what works for you.

• Brush up your grammar: Revise the core rules and read a Reading Comprehension passage every day to build speed and accuracy.
