Maharashtra NEET UG Round 1 Reporting 2026 FAQs

What is the Status Retention Form, and when should I fill it?

On the official CET Cell counselling portal, medical2026.mahacet.org.

What happens if I fail to physically report to my allotted college by September 4, 2026?

If you do not physically visit the allotted college, submit your original documents, and pay the tuition fees by September 4, 2026 (5:30 PM), your Round 1 seat will be automatically cancelled. The vacant seat will then be released into the CAP Round 2 seat matrix.

Do Round 1 college preferences automatically carry forward to CAP Round 2?

No. Maharashtra CET Cell does not carry forward choices. Candidates seeking an upgrade in Round 2 must log into the official portal (medical2026.mahacet.org) during the Round 2 schedule and fill a fresh list of preference

Can I participate in Round 2 if I join my Round 1 college but don't submit the Status Retention Form?

Yes. By physically reporting, completing document verification, paying fees, and leaving the Status Retention Form blank, you secure your Round 1 seat as a safety net. If you get upgraded in Round 2, your Round 1 seat is automatically cancelled and transferred to another candidate, while your admission shifts to the new college. If you do not get an upgrade, your Round 1 seat remains intact.
