UPSC CMS 2026 Paper-Wise Question Paper Analysis

Reviewing the UPSC CMS 2026 question paper paper-wise gives you a clearer view of how questions were framed across the medical subjects. You can examine the areas tested in each paper, distinguish between factual and application-based questions, and identify the concepts that require further revision.

Paper I – General Medicine & Paediatrics

Paper I contains questions from General Medicine and Paediatrics. While reviewing this paper, you can classify the questions according to the subject and check whether they test direct medical knowledge, diagnosis, clinical application or interpretation of a given situation.

Focus your review on:

  • General Medicine: Identify questions based on diagnosis, clinical conditions, investigations, treatment and disease management.

  • Paediatrics: Review questions related to childhood diseases, neonatal conditions, growth and development, immunisation and paediatric management.

  • Question approach: Mark questions that require clinical reasoning separately from those based mainly on factual recall.

  • Revision areas: Note the subjects or concepts behind incorrect answers and revise them before attempting another practice paper.

Paper II – Surgery, Gynaecology & Obstetrics, and PSM

Paper II covers Surgery, Gynaecology & Obstetrics, and Preventive & Social Medicine (PSM). Reviewing these three sections separately allows you to see which areas you handled confidently and which questions required more time or revision.

Focus your review on:

  • Surgery: Check questions related to diagnosis, surgical conditions, treatment, trauma and other areas included in the CMS syllabus.

  • Gynaecology & Obstetrics: Review questions covering obstetric conditions, pregnancy-related management, gynaecological disorders and reproductive health.

  • PSM: Analyse questions related to epidemiology, biostatistics, communicable diseases, national health programmes and preventive medicine.

  • Question approach: Separate direct factual questions from questions requiring calculation, interpretation or clinical application.

  • Revision areas: Record incorrect and doubtful questions subject-wise so you can target your revision more effectively.

The exact number of questions from individual topics should be reported only after all questions in the UPSC CMS 2026 question paper have been categorised and verified.
