

WB NEET PG 2025 Rs 5 Lakh Bond Penalty: The Directorate of Medical Education in West Bengal has released important rules for students applying for MD (Doctor of Medicine) and MS (Master of Surgery) courses through WB NEET PG 2025 counselling. It is regarding the WB NEET PG 2025 Rs 5 Lakh Bond Penalty. Rules mainly concern a mandatory service period and a financial penalty (bond) if a student leaves their course early. These rules aim to make sure doctors complete their speciality training and serve the state.
The official rules mention two main things for students getting seats in the open category (general seats) and the NRI (Non-Resident Indian) quota.
Mandatory Service Period: After finishing the MD/MS course, students must serve the state for a period of 3 years. This mandatory service helps the state health system.
Bond Penalty for Discontinuity: If a candidate decides to discontinue (leave) their MD/MS course before finishing it, or even after taking admission but before completion, they must pay a penalty of Rs 5 lakh. This is a financial bond that the student agrees to during admission.
For students taking PG Diploma seats in the state, the rules are different as compared to the degree course programs.
Bond Penalty: The penalty for discontinuing a PG Diploma course is Rs 2 lakh.
Mandatory Service Period: After completing a PG Diploma course, the mandatory service period is 2 years.

Bond Submission: Every student admitted must submit a bond during the admission process. This bond must be on non-judicial stamp paper of not less than Rs 100. This is the legal agreement to follow the rules about leaving the course and mandatory service.
DNB Courses: The mandatory service and discontinuity bond rules do not apply to DNB (Diplomate of National Board) courses in West Bengal at present.
NRI Quota Caution: Candidates applying under the NRI quota must be very careful. If their documents are found to be insufficient or invalid during physical verification, their admission is immediately cancelled. Once cancelled from the NRI quota, they cannot apply again under the state or management quota for the counselling process.
