MBBS Seat Matrix 2026-27: The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has released the updated state-wise MBBS seat matrix for the academic session 2026-27. According to the latest data as of 13 July 2026, India now has 1,36,939 MBBS seats (excluding INI seats), marking a significant increase from the previous academic year.
The revised matrix shows the addition of 9,911 new MBBS seats, taking the total number of medical colleges in the country to 823. The expansion comes amid the government's continued focus on increasing medical education capacity and addressing the doctor-population ratio.

Among all states, Karnataka has emerged as the state with the highest number of MBBS seats at 15,395, followed by Uttar Pradesh (14,000) and Tamil Nadu (13,999).
