During NEET 2026 registration, many students face confusion while filling present address and permanent address details. These details are extremely important because the exam centre city options are generated strictly based on the addresses you enter in the application form. Students preparing away from their home state often worry about whether they will get an exam centre near their coaching location. Even small mistakes in address entry or document upload can limit exam city choices. This article explains the complete process in a simple and student-friendly manner, so you can fill the form correctly and avoid last-minute problems.
While filling the online application form, candidates must enter complete correspondence (present) and permanent address with correct PIN code. Based on these details, NTA allows students to select three exam cities only from the state of permanent address or present address.
If both addresses are the same, city options will be limited to that one state. If addresses are different, both states will automatically appear during exam city selection. NTA clearly advises students to choose nearby or convenient cities only, as it will not be responsible for inconvenience caused by incorrect selections.
Students often assume they can freely choose any exam city, but NEET follows strict address-based rules. Understanding these rules beforehand helps avoid confusion, wrong uploads, and restricted city options later.
