NEET 2026: Skip These Chapters in Physics (Smart Strategy for Last Days)

For NEET 2026 Physics, skip or reduce focus on lengthy, low-weightage chapters like Rotational Motion (except important topics), Fluids, Solids, and Ray Optics if not prepared. Focus on high-weightage chapters and revise formulas and key concepts.

NEET 2026: Skip These Chapters in Physics

With the NEET UG 2026 exam approaching, students often wonder which Physics chapters to focus on and which ones can be skipped. In the final days, the goal is not to complete the entire syllabus but to maximise marks through smart revision and prioritisation.

This guide will help you identify low-yield chapters you can avoid and high-impact topics you must revise.

Why Skipping Matters in the Last Week

Physics is a vast subject, and trying to revise everything at the last moment can lead to confusion and panic. Instead, focus on chapters that have consistently carried more weight in previous years and are easier to revise quickly.

Chapters You Can Skip or Keep Low Priority

Rotational Motion (Partial Focus)

This chapter is important but very lengthy. If you have not studied it yet, avoid starting it now. However, do not skip key topics like moment of inertia, which often appears in the exam.

Mechanical Properties of Fluids

Despite being a large chapter, its question frequency is relatively low. It is not ideal for last-minute preparation and can be deprioritised.

Mechanical Properties of Solids

This chapter has very low weightage and questions are not asked consistently every year. You can safely keep it at low priority.

Thermal Properties of Matter

Questions from this chapter are inconsistent. A quick revision is enough, but avoid spending too much time here.

Ray Optics (If Not Prepared)

Ray Optics is important but lengthy. If you have already studied it, revise key concepts. If not, it is better to skip it in the final days.

Electromagnetic Induction (EMI)

This chapter has moderate weightage but can be tricky. If time is limited, keep it at a lower priority.

High-Priority Chapters You Should Not Skip

Some chapters consistently carry high weight and should be revised thoroughly:

  • Current Electricity

  • Electrostatics

  • Semiconductor Electronics

  • Dual Nature of Matter, Atoms and Nuclei

  • Work, Energy and Power

  • Laws of Motion

  • Gravitation

Important Topics You Must Cover

Even if you skip some chapters, make sure you cover these important topics:

  • Moment of Inertia

  • Projectile Motion

  • Errors and Measurement

  • Logic Gates and Diodes

  • Photoelectric Effect and de Broglie concept

Class 11 vs Class 12 Strategy

Class 12 Physics is generally more scoring, shorter, and easier to revise compared to Class 11. In the final days, give more weight to Class 12 topics while revising key concepts from Class 11.

Final Preparation Tips

  • Focus on formulas and key concepts instead of full theory

  • Practice previous year questions

  • Avoid starting new or complex chapters

  • Work on accuracy and time management

Success in NEET Physics depends on smart preparation rather than covering everything. By skipping low-yield chapters and focusing on high-weightage areas, you can improve your score significantly. Stay calm, trust your preparation, and revise strategically.

Chapters like Rotational Motion (partially), Fluids, Solids, Thermal Properties, and Ray Optics (if not prepared) can be given low priority.

Is it okay to skip chapters in NEET preparation?

Yes, if done strategically. Focus on high-weightage topics instead of trying to cover the entire syllabus.

Which chapters are most important in NEET Physics?

Current Electricity, Electrostatics, Semiconductors, Modern Physics, and Gravitation are among the most important.

Should I start new chapters in the last week?

No, it is better to revise already studied topics instead of starting something new.
