Live photo capture has been introduced as a mandatory step in the NEET UG 2026 application process to strengthen candidate identity verification. Unlike uploaded photographs, the live image is captured in real time and linked directly to the candidate’s Aadhaar records. This measure helps NTA prevent impersonation and the use of edited or proxy photographs. Candidates must carefully follow the live photo capture instructions during registration, as NTA will not allow corrections once the form is submitted.
Live photo capture is a real-time image taken during application submission. This image is matched with Aadhaar data to confirm the candidate’s identity. It ensures that the applicant is physically present while filling out the form and reduces malpractice risks.
Candidates must enable their device camera or webcam while filling the form. If a webcam is unavailable, a QR code can be scanned using a mobile device. The photograph must be taken in good lighting, with a light background, and at least 80% face visibility without masks or accessories.
Along with the live photo, candidates must upload a recent passport-size photograph, signature, and left and right-hand finger and thumb impressions. All images must meet file size and clarity guidelines. NTA will not provide a correction facility, and unclear images may result in rejection.
