To bring more transparency into the NEET UG 2026 evaluation process, the National Testing Agency (NTA) will display scanned copies of candidates’ OMR Answer Sheets and recorded responses online after the examination. The OMR sheet of candidates with responses recorded by machine will be displayed online at neet.nta.nic.in.
This step, mentioned in the official NEET UG information bulletin, allows candidates to verify how their responses have been recorded and evaluated personally. It also gives them a fair opportunity to challenge any discrepancy before the final result is declared.
After the NEET UG 2026 examination is conducted, NTA will upload the following on its official website:
Scanned image of your OMR Answer Sheet.
Recorded responses captured by the system.
Provisional Answer Key (released separately but linked to OMR review).
This means you’ll be able to see:
Which options did you mark on the OMR sheet
How those responses were read by the scanning system
Whether any response appears incorrectly recorded.
This move is especially important because NEET is an OMR-based exam, and even a small mistake in bubbling can affect your final score.
Once the OMR sheets are released, candidates can follow these steps:
Visit the official NTA NEET website, neet.nta.nic.in.
Log in using your Application Number and Password/Date of Birth.
Click on the link for “OMR Answer Sheet & Recorded Responses”.
Download and carefully review your scanned OMR sheet.
Match your marked answers with what has been recorded.
It’s advised to take screenshots or save a copy for reference, especially if you plan to raise a challenge.
If you find any discrepancy in the OMR sheet, such as:
An answer marked by you but not recorded correctly.
A clear bubbling error not reflecting your intent.
Any mismatch between your response and the recorded response.
You will be allowed to challenge the grading during a specified window.
Challenges must be submitted online only
A non-refundable processing fee of Rs. 200 per question will be charged.
Challenges submitted without payment will not be considered.
Only challenges within the announced time frame are accepted.
NTA will review all challenges with the help of subject experts. If a challenge is found valid, necessary corrections will be made before declaring the final result.
Displaying OMR sheets online is a major step toward fairness and transparency. It helps aspirants:
Gain confidence in the evaluation process.
Reduce doubts and post-exam anxiety.
Avoid silent errors that could impact rank and counselling chances.
Understand mistakes for future reference (especially droppers).
However, candidates must also understand that careless filling of OMR sheets during the exam cannot be corrected later, even if challenged.
Fill OMR sheets neatly and correctly during the exam.
Do not over-darken or partially fill circles.
Follow the instructions related to changing answers.
Check OMR sheets immediately once they’re released.
Submit challenges calmly with proper justification.
Being alert during this phase can make a real difference, especially in a highly competitive exam like NEET.
