NEET UG 2026 Re-Exam: NMC Issues Advisory to Medical Colleges

With the NEET UG 2026 re-examination scheduled for June 21, the National Medical Commission (NMC) has issued an advisory to all medical colleges and institutions across the country, directing them to take precautionary measures to safeguard the integrity of the examination process.

In a public notice dated June 18, 2026, the NMC said it has forwarded instructions received from the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, regarding the conduct of the NEET UG 2026 re-exam. The advisory has been issued for strict compliance by all medical colleges and institutions under the Commission's purview.

Medical Colleges Asked to Remain Vigilant

The Commission noted that in previous years, certain instances had come to light where students from medical colleges were allegedly involved in activities that could compromise the fairness and credibility of examinations.

Keeping this in view, the NMC has instructed medical colleges to remain alert and ensure that students are sensitised about the importance of maintaining the sanctity of the examination process. Institutions have been asked to counsel students against participating in any activity that could undermine the conduct of the examination.

Advisory Against Granting Leave on June 20 and 21

As an additional preventive measure, the Commission has advised medical colleges not to grant leave to students on June 20 and June 21, 2026, except in exceptional circumstances supported by proper justification.

According to the NMC, the restriction has been recommended to discourage any potential misuse and to support the fair and transparent conduct of the NEET UG re-examination.

Focus on Exam Integrity

The latest advisory comes amid heightened security arrangements for the NEET UG 2026 re-exam. Authorities have already announced enhanced measures, including biometric verification, stricter frisking procedures, and monitoring mechanisms to ensure that the examination is conducted smoothly and without irregularities.

By asking medical colleges to stay vigilant and counsel students against unfair practices, the NMC has reinforced the importance of preserving the credibility and integrity of one of India's largest medical entrance examinations.

The NEET UG 2026 re-examination will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2026, at designated centres across the country. Candidates have been advised to rely only on official updates issued by the National Testing Agency (NTA) and follow all examination guidelines carefully.
