Re-NEET 2026 Security Measures have been drastically upgraded by the NTA to ensure a fair examination on June 21, 2026. After the original NEET UG 2026 exam scheduled for May 3 was cancelled due to a question paper leak, the government and NTA have implemented the strictest security protocols in NEET history. Key changes include AI-based CCTV surveillance, mandatory Aadhaar biometric authentication, encrypted question papers with GPS-tracked transport, Air Force involvement in paper logistics, jammers at all centres, and multi-layer frisking for all candidates.
The May 3 paper leak forced the NTA to cancel the exam and rebuild its entire security framework. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has assured students that multiple ministries, state governments, and security agencies are working together to prevent any lapses, with confidentiality strengthened from the question paper preparation stage to secure transportation to centres. These new rules aim to make the June 21 test fair for every hardworking student.
Key Security Measures Introduced for Re-NEET 2026
Paper-setting experts are being kept at a secure, undisclosed location under complete digital blackout until the exam. NTA has also adopted zero-trust internal protocols, meaning no single official has full visibility of the question paper.
Air Force Transport and Encrypted Question Papers
In a first for NEET, the Indian Air Force will transport question papers for the Re-NEET 2026 exam. Papers are encrypted, securely transported with GPS tracking, and printed at the last minute in secure facilities.
Mandatory Aadhaar biometric authentication will be conducted at all exam centres. Fingerprint and facial data are matched with application records to prevent impersonation. If biometric verification fails due to technical issues, candidates can still enter after submitting a written undertaking at the centre.
Exam centres will be under AI CCTV surveillance, which tracks suspicious movement in real time. A central command centre monitors live feeds from centres across the country.
Multi-layer frisking will be conducted at every centre, with separate arrangements and staff for male and female candidates to ensure respectful checking. Metal detectors and strict dress codes are part of centre security.
Jammers will block signals at centres, and social media and online platforms are being monitored round the clock to prevent rumours and fake paper leak claims. NTA has already dismissed Telegram channel claims alleging the June 21 paper has leaked, reporting them to CyberCrime, and warned that engaging with or purchasing from such channels is a criminal offence under the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act 2024.
New Exam Timing and Reporting Rules
The exam will be held offline from 2:00 PM to 5:15 PM, with 15 minutes extra provided to accommodate OMR and attendance formalities. Candidates must reach the exam centre early to avoid last-minute delays such as traffic jams. Gates close exactly at the time mentioned on the admit card, and no entry is allowed afterwards. Download the Re-NEET admit card, releasing by June 14 at neet.nta.nic.in.
Students should wear light clothes with half sleeves. Large buttons, long sleeves, and thick-soled shoes are not allowed. Candidates wearing religious/customary attire must reach the centre earlier for special checking.
All electronic gadgets, including mobile phones, smartwatches, and calculators, remain banned. In a key change for the re-exam, stationery will be provided at the NEET exam centres on the day of examination, and candidates need not carry any textual material or pen to the exam centre. Carry only your admit card, valid ID proof, photographs, and a transparent water bottle.
Candidates caught using unfair means face multi-year bans and legal action under the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act 2024. Impersonation detection happens through real-time identity verification.
State police forces have been directed to coordinate closely with district administrations for the secure conduct of the re-examination — in Telangana alone, 73,000 candidates will appear at 208 centres, and similar security briefings have been issued by DGPs across other major states.
