A nationwide mock drill is underway on Friday, June 20, ahead of the NEET UG 2026 Re-Examination scheduled for June 21. The large-scale exercise is being conducted to test security arrangements, evaluate coordination among agencies and assess overall preparedness before the medical entrance examination.
Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has also reviewed the preparations in a high-level meeting and directed authorities to ensure the smooth and secure conduct of the re-examination.
The mock drill began at 9:00 AM and is continuing till late evening across the country. More than two lakh security personnel are participating in the exercise, which is aimed at checking the readiness of examination centres and identifying any gaps in the security framework ahead of the exam.
The exercise is also assessing the coordination between central agencies, state administrations, district authorities and examination functionaries.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has already taken over all examination centres designated for the NEET UG 2026 Re-Examination. On the day of the examination, the centres will function under a three-tier security arrangement.
Paramilitary personnel are also being deployed to supervise the handling, transportation and movement of confidential examination materials, including question papers and answer sheets.
More than 5,000 examination centres across the country are being monitored through CCTV surveillance systems. Live camera feeds will be available to the NTA for real-time monitoring and supervision.
A dedicated control centre has also been established to track social media platforms and identify any suspicious activity, misinformation or attempts to disrupt the examination process.
Security and investigative agencies remain on alert ahead of the examination. District administrations and officials from both the Centre and state governments are overseeing arrangements at examination centres to ensure that all protocols are implemented effectively.
Around 22.79 lakh candidates are expected to appear for the NEET UG 2026 Re-Examination on June 21.
The nationwide mock drill is serving as the final preparedness exercise before the examination, enabling authorities to test security measures, evaluate operational readiness and ensure the smooth, fair and secure conduct of the NEET UG 2026 Re-Examination across the country.
