National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced that all arrangements are in place for the smooth and secure conduct of the NEET UG 2026 Re-Examination, scheduled to be held on Sunday, June 21, 2026. The examination will take place in pen-and-paper mode from 2:00 PM to 5:15 PM (IST).
Candidates with disabilities (PwD/PwBD) who are eligible for compensatory time will be allowed to continue writing the examination until 6:20 PM.
The re-examination will be conducted for more than 22.79 lakh candidates at centres spread across 551 cities in India and 14 international locations. According to NTA, extensive preparations have been made to ensure the examination is conducted smoothly and without disruptions.
The examination exercise involves coordination among several agencies and officials at different levels. The arrangements include:
674 City Coordinators managing city-level operations
6,669 Observers deployed to independently monitor examination centres
Centre Superintendents and Invigilators at every test venue
District administrations, police forces and escort teams for secure transportation of confidential materials
Overall, more than two lakh personnel have been mobilised to facilitate the fair conduct of the examination.
NTA has implemented a comprehensive security and monitoring system for NEET UG 2026 Re-Exam. The measures include:
Secure handling and transportation of confidential materials under sealed protocols
GPS-enabled vehicles accompanied by police escorts
CCTV surveillance at all examination centres linked to centralised control rooms
Mandatory frisking through high-sensitivity metal detectors
Aadhaar-based biometric authentication to prevent impersonation
Real-time monitoring through centralised systems
The agency also stated that social media platforms are being actively monitored to curb misinformation and malpractice. Complaints have been filed with cyber-crime authorities, including the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C), the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), with strict action being initiated against offenders.
NTA clarified that candidates whose biometric verification cannot be completed due to technical issues, poor fingerprint quality, connectivity problems with UIDAI, or physical limitations will still be permitted to take the examination.
Such candidates will be required to submit a written undertaking at the centre, after which manual identity verification using valid documents will be conducted.
Considering the large number of candidates and prevailing summer conditions, the agency has instructed all centres to provide:
Reliable power backup, including generators
Adequate lighting, electricity and fans
Wall clocks in examination rooms
Drinking water and sanitation facilities
On-site medical assistance
Additional biometric machines and trained personnel
Candidates are also permitted to carry a transparent water bottle. Diabetic candidates may bring sugar tablets and fruits such as bananas, apples and oranges, along with a transparent water bottle, in accordance with NTA guidelines.
Candidates must report to their examination centres between 11:00 AM and 1:30 PM. The entry gates will close sharply at 1:30 PM, and no entry will be allowed after this time under any circumstances.
NTA has advised candidates wearing customary or religious attire, as well as those opting for full sleeves or woollen clothing, to arrive early to allow sufficient time for frisking procedures.
Candidates should carefully verify the exact address mentioned on their admit card, as map applications may occasionally display incorrect locations.
Candidates must carry the following documents:
Printed copy of the NEET UG 2026 Re-Exam Admit Card
One original valid photo identity proof
Two passport-size photographs for affixing on the attendance sheet
NTA has urged candidates to:
Reach the examination centre well in advance, keeping traffic and weather conditions in mind
Follow the prescribed dress code and permitted items guidelines available on the official website
Carry only authorised items inside the examination hall
The following items are strictly prohibited:
Mobile phones
Smart watches
Bluetooth devices

Candidates have also been advised not to believe rumours or fraudulent claims regarding question paper leaks and to immediately report suspicious messages or channels to NTA or cyber-crime authorities.
For mental well-being support, the agency has shared official helplines, including Tele-MANAS (14416), the 24x7 national mental health helpline.
