The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2026 has been cancelled. A shocking decision was made due to the NEET paper leak controversy. NEET UG exam, conducted on May 3, 2026 cancelled. The Director General (DG) of the National Testing Agency (NTA), Mr Abhishek Singh, spoke to the media to explain why this happened. He promised that the government would not tolerate any cheating or mistakes. NTA has announced the NEET fee refund through an official notice. NEET re-exam dates will be notified to the students on the NTA portal.
The NEET exam took place on May 3, 2026. A "whistleblower" (someone who reports secret wrongdoings) sent a message to the NTA on May 7, 2026. The person claimed that some questions from the exam were being shared on WhatsApp even before the test started.
The NTA team quickly began an investigation. They worked with the police and other security agencies. They looked at a PDF file that was moving around on mobile phones.
They found that some questions in that PDF were exactly the same as the questions in the real exam paper. The investigation showed that some people had these questions on their phones as early as May 1 and May 2.
The DG explained that the NTA has a "Zero Tolerance Policy." It means they will not accept even a single mistake. Even if only one or two questions are leaked, it makes the whole exam unfair. There are over 22 lakh students who study hard for years to pass NEET. If some people use money or cheating to get the paper. It is unfair to the hardworking students.
NTA decided to cancel the entire exam. The DG said this was a "tough decision," but it was necessary to send a strong message to criminals and scammers. He said the government wants to show that anyone trying to break the rules will be caught and sent to jail.
NEET Paper Leak Case has been handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The CBI is a special agency that can investigate deeply across different states. They will look into where the leak started and who was involved. They will check if any staff members or outside people were part of this crime. The DG promised that the NTA would help the CBI in every way possible.
NTA knows that the students are worried after getting the NEET paper leak news. Therefore, the authority has taken steps to provide relief to the students.
No New Fee: Students do not have to pay any money to take the re-exam.
Refund of Old Fee: The NTA will also refund the money that students paid the first time. The agency is taking full responsibility for what happened.
The re-exam will be held soon. The NTA team is working on a new schedule. They hope to announce the new dates within the next 7 to 10 days. The goal is to finish the exam quickly so that medical college admissions are not delayed.
NTA DG requested students and parents to stay away from scammers. He said students should never try to buy papers or believe people who promise "leaked questions." He asked everyone to trust their own hard work. If anyone sees something suspicious, they should report it to the police or the NTA immediately. The government is determined to make the next exam 100% fair.
All official updates will be released by the National Testing Agency.
